6-6 Troubleshooting Guide
6.3 Replaced a Concentrator Module, but the Ring Does Not Recognize It
A concentrator module such as a 9F12x-xx or FDCMIM-x was replaced, but now the ring does not recognize that
concentrator.
Is the revision level of the concentrator firmware at the same revision level as the other concentrators in the hub?
YN
Call Cabletron Technical Support.
Try to install the concentrator into a different slot in the hub.
Did the ring recognize the concentrator module?
YN
Call Cabletron Technical Support.
Congratulations, the problem is solved.
6.4 Installed a New Dual Attached Device, but the Ring Does Not Recognize It
Make sure that the ring connections to all the devices on the ring are valid. Refer to the manuals for each device to check
on how to make the connections.
Are the ring connections correct?
YN
Correct as necessary.
Does the ring recognize the new dual attached device?
YN
Perform the loopback test on the new dual attached device (jumper from the A to B port). Check the LEDs on the
device for the following indications:
- The device is linked.
- There is no wrap.
- There is no twist.
Are the LED indications different?
YN
Ensure that all cables have been installed according to the X3T9.5 ANSI standards. Correct as necessary to
bring the cables within standards.
Now, does the ring recognize the new dual attached device?
YN
Call Cabletron Technical Support.
