It’s not dicult to get a great, long-lasting finish …
if you start right and follow directions. Here are a
few timely tips from the pros who do it all the time.

PREPARE THE WOOD FIRST.
• Even new wood needs cleaning to
make sure you end up with the color
you want and protection that lasts.

APPLY STAIN.
• Use a good brush. We recommend fine
Purdy
®
brushes for easiest application
and smoothest finishes.
• Apply stain heavily to the open ends of the boards.
• Working one or two boards at a time,
work your way across the deck, keeping
a wet edge to avoid lap marks.
• Finish with a heavy coat on the
other ends of the boards.
• Let dry 24-48 hours before use.
