Convenience
PUSH BUTTON START
Your STS features a Push Button Start
System that does not require a
traditional key to start the engine.
Starting Your Engine
• The Keyless Access System
transmitter must be in the vehicle.
If no transmitter is detected, the
Driver Information Center will
display No Fob Detected. If the
transmitter is in the vehicle and the
No Fob Detected message is
displayed, place the transmitter in
the pocket located in the back of
the center console, with the
buttons facing the front of the
vehicle.
• With your foot on the brake pedal,
press the top of the Start button.
When the engine begins cranking,
release the button. Do not hold the
button for longer than 15 seconds
at a time.
• If the engine does not start and a
Driver Information Center message
is not displayed, wait 15 seconds
and try again.
Stopping Your Engine
• Move the shift lever to Park.
• Press the bottom of the
Off/Accessory button.
If the shift lever is not in Park, the
engine will stop but the vehicle will
go into accessory mode and the
Driver Information Center will display
Shift To Park. Once the shift lever is
moved to Park, the vehicle will turn
off.
Note: It is recommended that children not
be placed in the front passenger seat, even
with the Passenger Sensing System. All
children should be secured in a rear seat,
including an infant riding in a rear-facing
infant seat, a child riding in a forward-facing
child seat and an older child riding in a
booster seat.
Note: Your engine will start only if the shift
lever is in Park or Neutral.
