Global Options dialog—Folders
Window Layouts
You can save or apply (load) various arrangements of views that you create by using the Views >
Layouts command. Naming and saving a layout creates a file called (file
name)CakewalkWindowLayout, where you supply a file name. The file has the extension .
CAK, but
the extension is only visible if you look at the file’s Properties. The default directory is the Sample
Content folder located in:
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5
<Producer or Studio>
Windows Vista:
C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5 <Producer or Studio>
Wave Files
These files are the standard Windows audio files that you can import into and export out of SONAR.
They have the file extension .wav. The default directory for wave files is the Sample Content folder
located in:
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5
<Producer or Studio>
Windows Vista:
C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5 <Producer or Studio>
Video Files
You can import .AVI, ,MPG, and QuickTime video files into SONAR. The default directory for video
files is the Sample Content folder located in:
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5

Windows Vista:
C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5 <Producer or Studio>
Sysx Files (.SYX)
When you create and save a .SYX file. The default directory for sysx files is the Sample Content
folder located in:
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5

Windows Vista:
