Exporting and bouncing
When exporting or bouncing an instrument track, both MIDI and audio data are taken into account.
The result is the same as if the track is frozen.
Converting an audio and MIDI track to a single instrument track
If an existing audio track and MIDI track are assigned to the same soft synth, you can convert the
two tracks to a single instrument track.
1. Select the audio and MIDI tracks that you want to combine into a single instrument track.
2. Right-click one of the selected track strips and select Make Instrument Track from the pop-up
menu.

Splitting an instrument track to separate audio and MIDI tracks
You can split an instrument track into separate audio and MIDI tracks. The audio and MIDI tracks will
remain assigned to the same soft synth.
• In the Track view, right-click the track strip and select Split Instrument Track from the pop-up
menu.
The instrument track is converted to separate audio and MIDI tracks, both assigned to the soft
synth.
Media Browser enhancements
The Media Browser view allows you to browse and preview your audio files (.wav, .mp3, .wma, etc.),
MIDI loops (.mid), Project5 patterns (.ptn), step sequencer patterns (.ssp) and REX loops (.rex)
before you drag them into your project. If you preview a Groove clip, it plays back at tempo and in
the key of your current project.
Audio files can be auditioned through any bus and MIDI files can be auditioned through any soft
synth.
You can also drag video files to the Video Thumbnails pane.
Media Browser interface
The Media Browser view is divided into three panes. From left to right, the panes are as follows:
Synth Rack pane. Lists all soft synths in a project. This pane shows the same synths as the Synth
Rack view.
Each synth has a corresponding instrument track in the Track view. If the instrument track is muted
or soloed, the Synth Rack pane displays a small Mute or Solo icon next to the corresponding
synth name. If the synth is disabled, a Disabled icon is displayed.
