New features in SONAR 8.5
You can audition multiple MIDI files simultaneously, either through the same synth or through
multiple synths.
To audition a MIDI file
1. In the Synth Rack pane, select the desired synth that you want to audition the MIDI file through.
2. Browse to the folder that contains the file you want to audition.
3. Select the desired file. If you want to audition multiple files simultaneously, either in the same or in
different folders, hold down the CTRL or SHIFT key and select each file you want to audition.
4. Click the Play button .
To audition through a different synth
1. Hold down the CTRL key and click the file that you want to audition through a different synth.
The MIDI file is no longer associated with the synth.
2. In the Synth Rack pane, select the new synth that you want to audition the MIDI file through.
3. Select the MIDI file again.
The MIDI file now plays through the new synth, without affecting any MIDI files that may be
playing through other synths.
To drag a MIDI file into a project
1. Drag the MIDI file from the Media Browser view to the Track view.
2. Drop the MIDI file in the track and at the time in which you want it in your project.
A new MIDI track is created if:
• There are no MIDI tracks in the project.
• You drop the file after the last track in the project.
Note: MIDI Groove Clips loop indefinitely, but standard MIDI files play only once and do not
repeat.
Note: If the are no synths in the project, click Insert Synth to insert a new soft synth.
Tip:
If
Auto Play
is enabled, you can simply click a file to audition the file.
Tip:
You can double-click a file in the Media Browser to insert the file in the current track at the Now
time.
