3401 Manual
Point I/O Stepper Module
Revision 2.0
Module Specifications
Pointbus Current Draw: 85mA @5Vdc
A maximum of five 3401 modules can be installed in one Point I/O base.
It is possible to add
more 3401 modules to the Point I/O base by adding a 1734-EP24DC to the system.
Throughput Time: 250 µs (Inputs must be on for 250 µs to be scanned by the module)
Stepper Outputs
Output Voltage: +5Vdc differential (3.5Vdc to 4Vdc peak typical)
Maximum Output Current: 20mA
Maximum Output Frequency: 1MHz
Discrete Inputs
Input Type: Sinking
Input Voltage Range: On = 8 to 24Vdc
Off = 0 to 2Vdc
Input Current: 15mA @ 24Vdc
Response Time (On and Off): 5µs
Input Functions: Home and Emergency Stop inputs
Environmental Conditions
Operating Temperature: 0 to 60° C
Relative Humidity: 5 to 95% (non-condensing)
Storage Temperature: -40 to 85° C

Green: Communicating with the scanner module
Red: Communication Error
Limit and Home Input LED
Orange: Indicates that the input is active. These LEDs will be ON if the
Input has been configured as Active High and is receiving power
or if the Input has been configured as Active Low and is not
receiving power.
The throughput time represents how long the 3401 module will need between
receiving a command and acting on it. It does not include the time that it will
take to transfer data to and from the 3401 module over the network.
