more information on that…

With the cutting point of the mower at the front of the frame, adjusting the cutting height is essentially

tilting the unit frame forward and backwards (by way of pivoting the front wheels / roller frame – with

the adjustment handle / arm)…

Therefore, the handles and drive roller at the rear of the unit move higher and lower accordingly… The High-Cut versions set at 1” (5/8” is lowest) has the opposite effect – in that the unit would be tilted forward resulting in the handle being about 3-1/2” higher (versus the Standard at the same height) – which, again, may not be comfortable for some people… since, according to the US government, the average height for an adult man is about 5’ 9” / women are 5’ 4”.

Here’s an image of a chart with more details on all the cutting height settings and the subsequent handle heights … The Handle Extension kit adds about 4” to the overall height of the handles and is typically preferred by people 6’ 2” and taller… especially on the Standard models – as the High-Cut models are already about 2” higher at the handles.
