Set Up and Care Guide

Pump Operation
It can take a few minutes for water to flow properly after the pump is turned on for the first time. If the pump is
too loud, see steps four and five. Keep in mind that a low level of noise is normal.
1. Submerge pump: Ensure your pump is fully submerged in water at all times to avoid damage.
2. Plug/unplug: Your pump may be air-locked. Try unplugging the pump several times to release air that
may be trapped inside.
3. Manual check: If the pump cover is removable, remove it to access the impeller area. Turn the pump’s
rotor to ensure it’s not broken or jammed.
4. Check location: If your pump is against a wall, vibrations can cause unwanted noise. Make sure the pump
is not touching the walls of the fountains reservoir.
5. Check flow rate: Spewing water may result from a flow rate that’s too low.
Water Flow Rate
Some fountains come with a dial or valve to adjust the flow rate. If you don’t have this option or if you are still
unsatisfied with your flow rate after changing the settings, try these tips.
1. Adjust the water level: Insucient water levels can aect the pumps intake. Check the manual to confirm
the appropriate water capacity for your pump.
2. Check for kinks: Bends or obstructions in the tubing can slow or halt the flow of water.
3. Clamp hose: To slow the water flow, clamp the hose with a clip.
Splashes & Leaks
Having trouble with splashing or leaking? Some splashing is inevitable, especially when you first turn
on your fountain.
1. Adjust flow rate: If your fountain includes a dial or valve to adjust the flow rate, try changing the settings.
If your pump is not adjustable, check our flow rate section to learn about other ways to change the rate.
2. Adjust position: Try rearranging the rocks or the splash guard at the fountain base. You can also place a
screen in the basin.
3. Adjust the water level: Ensure the pump is fully submerged. Avoid overfilling your fountain.
4. Check tubing: Incorrectly attached tubing could be the source of the leak.
5. Cracks: Your fountain may be cracked from improper winter care. See the winter care section under
maintenance tips.
Solar Panel
Performance is directly related to the amount and strength of sunlight received. Heres how to maximize it.
1. Ensure direct sunlight: Pumps may have limited function in shadowed areas or on cloudy days.
2. Clean panel surface regularly: This maintains optimal conversion of the sun’s energy into a direct current.
3. Boost charge: Leave the panel switched o in the sun for two to three sunny days. This fully charges the
battery and helps prolong its life.
