EOS-1D X Mark II camera is loaded with technologies that help facilitate speedy operation. It features
a new mirror mechanism designed for highly precise operation with reduced vibration even at incredibly
fast speeds, a CMOS sensor with high-speed signal reading that enables speedy image capture and
many other features that help ensure that camera operations are performed quickly and precisely.
20.2 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor
The EOS-1D X Mark II camera features a
Canon-developed 20.2 Megapixel full-frame
CMOS sensor that not only helps it record more
pixels, but also includes gapless micro lenses for
enhanced low-light performance. This results in
noise reduction in dark portions of the image
even at high ISO speeds, and increased
sensitivity that contributes to the camera’s
high-speed image capture rate, accelerating
frame-to-frame performance as well as enabling
4K movies (60p/30p) and improved playback.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF
Continuous AF, even during 4K recording, is
made easy thanks to the EOS-1D X Mark II
camera’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which is
compatible with all Canon EF lenses. Focus
points can be selected automatically, or
specified on the camera’s new touch panel LCD
screen. Its Movie Servo AF is compatible with
all frame rates and resolutions, and can be
customized to set tracking sensitivity, AF speed
and even Face Tracking priority.
3.2-inch Touch Panel LCD
The 3.2-inch touch panel TFT LCD monitor has
approximately 1.62 million dots and an anti-
reflective construction, and also features
Canon's Clear View II LCD technology for bright,
sharp display in any number of shooting
situations. The touch panel allows AF point
switching and image magnification during Live
View shooting and movie shooting for
convenient operation.
Intelligent Viewfinder II
The EOS-1D X Mark II camera features a new
Intelligent Viewfinder II that can show significantly
more information in the LCD display, such as
electronic level, a grid, flicker detection, AF
information and more. It also provides full-time
red illumination for AF points, increasing
visibility in dark locations where AF is typically
difficult and in situations where the ambient
light makes the AF frame difficult to see.
iTR AF with 360,000-pixel Metering Sensor
The amazingly advanced 360,000-pixel RGB+IR
metering sensor and dedicated DIGIC 6 Image
Processor enhance the EOS-1D X Mark II camera’s
impressive AF performance for both stills and
video by increasing the camera’s ability to
recognize subjects for faster, more precise AF,
metering and exposure compensation. This
additional exposure and subject information also
helps the iTR (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition)
AF system maintain focus on a moving subject
with a greater level of consistency.
Anti-flicker Shooting
Anti-flicker technology can detect rapid on-off
pulsing of certain artificial lights, and adjust
shutter timing for exposure at peak brightness.
The EOS-1D X Mark II camera refines this, and is
now able to detect flicker (in many situations)
even if it occurs in small areas of a scene.
Dual Band Wi-Fi® Compatibility with the
Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E8A
The Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E8A, a new
optional accessory, features 5 GHz 802.11ac
support for high-speed image transfer as well
as a revamped user interface. Accommodating
both iOS
and Android
◊◊
devices, it makes it
simple to use a smartphone as a remote control
for still and video capture. It is conveniently
both compact and durable, with excellent dust-
and water- resistance.
Built-in GPS
***
Built-in GPS helps photographers and
filmmakers not only tag their images with
critical location data, but also adjust the time
and timestamp on the camera automatically.
Weather-resistant Magnesium Alloy Body
with 400,000-cycle Shutter
The EOS-1D X Mark II camera is designed to
perform superbly even in the most treacherous
environments. The body is constructed of rigid,
high-strength magnesium alloy and features
dust- and weather- sealed ports and mounts for
rugged performance. Its shutter has lightweight,
carbon-fiber blades, and can maintain up to
16 fps* performance without compromise, for
up to 400,000 cycles.
Improved Controls and Grip
The EOS-1D X Mark II camera offers expanded
button customization for AF, image quality
control and more. It also offers a smaller grip
diameter that makes it easy to hold, as well as
redesigned buttons for simple identification.
Subject area detection
frame grab feature
††
, wherein an 8.8-Megapixel
still image can be selected for review and saved.
Incredible low-light performance is provided
with video recording at standard ISOs up to
12800 (4K) and 25600 (HD) that can be
expanded when needed. Uncompressed HDMI
output to external recorders is also possible at
4:2:2 Full HD resolution. 4K videos can be
recorded to CFast™ cards as Motion JPEG files,
while Full HD can be recorded as MOV or
MP4 files.
ISO Range
**
of 100–51200
(Expansion to ISO 409600)
Featuring a standard range of ISO 100–51200,
the EOS-1D X Mark II camera is incredibly
sensitive, shooting at expanded sensitivities
down to ISO 50 (L) and up to 102400 (H1),
204800 (H2) and even 409600 (H3).
Dual DIGIC 6+ Image Processors
Dual DIGIC 6+ Image Processors enhance the
EOS-1D X Mark II camera’s overall performance,
featuring improvements such as high-speed
processing, up to 14-fps* (up to 16-fps* in Live
View) operation for stills and 4K/60p movies,
lens distortion and diffraction correction during
operation with virtually no effect on the camera’s
speed, plus fast write times and much more.
CFast™ Cards
The EOS-1D X Mark II camera can capture an
incredible amount of images and movies with
amazing speed. When recording to CFast 2.0
cards
through its new CFast™ card slot, it can
record up to 170 full-size RAW files, and JPEGs
up to full card capacity at 16 fps. 4K/60p and
Full HD/120p video can also be recorded for
impressive moviemaking possibilities.
61 AF Points at f/8
and Low-intensity Limit
of EV -3
The EOS-1D X Mark II camera features a new
61-point High Density Reticular AF II system with
41 cross-type points. AF point coverage is expanded
in the vertical dimension, and AI Servo AF now
accommodates sudden changes in subject speed,
at default settings, even better than before. The
AF system’s low-intensity limit has been improved
to EV -3 and all 61 AF points are compatible down
to f/8
for excellent low-light performance.
