Using the EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM and EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lenses
This section explains how to use the EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM and EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lenses*,
which are supplied separately in some lens kits sold in select regions. For details on attaching a lens, refer to
Attaching an EF Lens (A 31). Illustrations in this section show the EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens unless
stated otherwise.
* "IS" stands for Image Stabilizer. "USM" stands for Ultrasonic Motor. "STM" stands for Stepping Motor.
Attaching the Lens Hood
When the EW-83M hood (supplied with the EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens) or EW-73B hood (optional
accessory for the EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens) is attached to the lens, it blocks stray light and protects
the front of the lens from snow, rain, dust, etc. Before storing the lens in a bag, you can attach the hood in
reverse.
1 Align the red dots on the hood and lens edges.
2 Turn the hood as shown in the illustration.
Turn the lens hood clockwise until it attaches securely.
IMPORTANT
When attaching or detaching the lens hood, grasp the base of the
hood when turning it. Grasping the hood's edges when turning it
may deform the hood.
NOTES
If the hood is not properly attached, it may obstruct the image's
periphery, making it look dark.
Zooming
To zoom, turn the lens's zoom ring.
NOTES
If you want to zoom, do so before focusing. Turning the zoom ring after
achieving focus may throw off the focus slightly.
With the EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, blurring may occur
temporarily if the zoom ring is turned too quickly.
