Shooting Precautions (EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens Only)
The EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM utilizes a stepping motor that drives the focus lens. The motor also
controls the focus lens during zooming.
When the camcorder is turned off
The motor does not operate while the camcorder is turned off. Therefore, be aware of the following points.
Manual focus adjustments are not possible.
During zooming, delayed focus will occur.
When the camcorder is turned on
When the camcorder is turned on, the lens performs an initial reset.
During the initial reset, the image on the screen may appear out of focus but this is not a malfunction.
The initial reset takes approximately 1 second (time may vary). You can start shooting after the initial reset has
finished.
Using the Optional GP-E2 GPS Receiver
When the optional GP-E2 GPS Receiver is connected to the camcorder, the camcorder will automatically record
the GPS information—longitude, latitude and altitude, and the UTC (coordinated universal time) date and time.
In mode, you can check whether a recording contains GPS information or not.
Connecting the GPS Receiver
Turn off the camcorder and the receiver. Connect the receiver to the camcorder's USB terminal using the USB
cable*. While recording, place the receiver in the carrying case* and attach it to the camcorder's grip belt or carry
it on your person. For details about connecting and using the receiver, refer to the GP-E2 Instruction Manual.
* Supplied with the optional GP-E2 GPS Receiver.
