Adjusting the Focus
Changing the AF Frame Size and Position
By default, when autofocus is used, the camcorder focuses on a subject at the center of the screen and no AF
frame is displayed. You can select to display an AF frame and change its size and position to focus on a specific
area or subject.
However, when the face detection or tracking function is activated, the AF frame's size and position will change
automatically according to the subject being tracked.
1 Select [AF Frame].

2 Select the desired option and then press SET.
3If you selected [Large] or [Small], select [AF Frame Position].

4 Select the desired option and then press SET.
Options for [AF Frame]
[Automatic]: No AF frame is displayed. The camcorder focuses automatically on a subject at the center of the
screen.
[Large], [Small]: An AF frame is displayed. You can move the AF frame within 80% of the screen area and select
its size according to the subject you want to focus.
Options for [AF Frame Position]
[Selectable]: You can move the AF frame using the joystick or by touching the LCD screen. Press the
CANCEL button to return the frame to the center of the screen.
[Center Frame]: A fixed AF frame appears at the center of the screen.

• In the following cases you will not be able to change the AF frame's size or position.
-When > [v%Camera Setup] > [Digital Zoom] is set to [Tele-converter 6.0x] or
[Tele-converter 3.0x].
-When > [v'Camera Setup] > [Conversion Lens] is set to an option other than [Off].
- When the [Gamma] setting in the custom picture file (A 124) is set to [PQ] or [HLG].
- While the color bars are displayed.
- When infrared recording is activated.
Face Detection
When the face detection function is activated, the camcorder will detect people’s faces. When there are a
number of people in the picture, one person will be determined to be the main subject but you have the option to
select a different person as the main subject. The camcorder will keep tracking the main subject even when it
moves.
You can use face detection with one of the autofocus functions to let the camcorder focus on the main subject
automatically (Face AF). You can also combine face detection with the Dual Pixel Focus Guide function (A 75)
to help you focus on the main subject manually.
1 Select [Face Det. & Tracking].
