Correction of Lens Aberrations due to
Optical Characteristics
N
Peripheral light fall-o󰀨 is a phenomenon that makes the image corners
look darker due to the optical characteristics of the lens. Image
distortion due to optical characteristics of the lens is called distortion.
Color fringing along subject outlines is called chromatic aberration. And
decreased image sharpness due to the aperture is called di󰀨raction
phenomenon. These lens aberrations can be corrected. You can also
use Digital Lens Optimizer to correct lens aberration, di󰀨raction, and a
loss of sharpness from the low-pass lter.
By default, [Peripheral illum corr] and [Digital Lens Optimizer]
([Chromatic aberr corr] and [Di󰀨raction correction]) are set to
[Enable], and [Distortion correction] is set to [Disable].
Even in [
A
] mode, peripheral illumination correction and Digital Lens
Optimizer are applied when lens correction data is registered (saved)
on the camera.
