Setting the Movie Recording Quality
o
If you change the [
5
3: Video system] setting, also set [
z
1: Movie rec
quality] again.
o
Normal playback of 4K,
L8
/
7
, and High Frame Rate movies,
for example, may not be possible on other devices, because playback is
processing-intensive.
o
Sharpness and noise vary slightly depending on movie recording quality,
cropped shooting settings, and the lens used.
o
To obtain better performance with the card, formatting the card with the
camera before shooting movies is recommended (p.373).
o
Frame rate options on the screen for movie recording size vary
depending on whether [
5
3: Video system] is set to [For NTSC] or [For
PAL].
o
Movies cannot be recorded in VGA quality.
4K Movie Shooting
z
Shooting 4K movies requires a high-performance card. For details,
see “Cards that Can Record Movies” on page 611.
z
Shooting 4K movies or High Frame Rate movies greatly increases
the processing load, which may cause the camera’s internal
temperature to increase faster or become higher than for regular
movies. If a red
E
icon appears during movie shooting, the card may
be hot, so stop shooting the movie and let the camera cool down
before removing the card. (Do not remove the card immediately.)
z
From a 4K movie, you can select any frame to save as an approx.
8.3-megapixel (3840×2160) JPEG still image to the card (p.329).
