A Revolution in Autofocus Unlocks the Potential of Live View
Fuel Your Creativity
High Speed & Intuitive Operation at Your Fingertips
* The number of available AF points, and whether single line or cross-type, varies depending on the lens.
Compatible with Over 103
Canon EF Lenses
More than 103 Canon EF lenses are able to
fully realize the benefits of Dual Pixel CMOS
AF. Compatible lenses greatly expand creative
and compositional possibilities so users can
enjoy a wide range of endeavors made possible
through various lenses whether shooting still
images or video. Canon STM lenses help
ensure quiet operation during video capture.
In short, thanks to Dual Pixel CMOS AF, Canon’s
renowned optics can now combine with Live
View and video capture as never before, offering
expanded creative possibilities.
Precise AF Keeps Subjects
in Focus
Intelligent Tracking and Recognition Autofocus
(iTR AF) is an advanced tracking technology that
improves the camera’s accuracy to keep a subject
in focus as much as possible. As featured on the
new EOS 7D Mark II camera, its enhanced iTR AF
is now even faster and more precise because it
works in tandem with its EOS Intelligent Subject
Analysis (iSA), which allows the camera to
recognize a subject’s face and color. If the speed
and direction change suddenly, iTR AF will switch
to a different AF point to track the subject and
maintain sharp, steady focus.
Realize the Freedom of Live View
Live View autofocus powered by Dual Pixel
CMOS AF is phenomenally accurate and faster
than ever. With the freedom of angle inherent
to a Vari-angle LCD monitor (as featured on
the EOS 70D digital SLR camera), you can
comfortably and conveniently shoot more
subjects, from more angles and vantage points,
as the situation dictates – confident in the
camera’s ability to provide outstanding focus.
Users can also take full advantage of Live
View-only features like Touch AF and Touch
Shutter for even more compositional freedom.
Shoot Video Like a Camcorder
Dual Pixel CMOS AF powers autofocus
performance similar to that of a camcorder
– but on a DSLR camera! Incredibly precise
focus is achieved quickly and over a large area
of the frame. Focus transitions, as when
acquiring focus or changing focus between
subjects, are smooth and natural, reminiscent
of how the human eye focuses. And once focus
is achieved, Dual Pixel CMOS AF helps ensure
that it stays locked in. Combined with the
predictive power of Movie Servo AF and Canon
Face Detection technology, even your rapidly
moving subjects remain crisp and clear.
Capture the Action,
Frame by Frame
A combination of fast processing
speeds, and accurate and precise
autofocus allows EOS digital SLR cameras to
photograph moving subjects with ease. The
new EOS 7D Mark II camera can shoot up to
10.0 frames per second thanks to its quick AF
and exposure systems complementing the
shutter’s 55 msec shutter release time lag.
Refined mechanics like a newly designed, more
efficient shutter-drive motor and a vibration
dampened mirror drive mean advanced
performance for high caliber image quality.
Fast, Accurate,
Sophisticated AF
Advanced Canon focus tracking
technology is one of the hallmarks of Canon EOS
technology. This is made possible by incorporating
high-precision focus sensors. By utilizing more
sensors, the camera is able perform well in
situations where the subject may be moving
erratically or unpredictably. The new EOS 7D Mark II
camera has a 65-point* all cross-type AF that
provides not only a large AF coverage area, but also
tremendous control over focusing point selection.
The focusing point can be selected automatically
by the camera or manually by the user.
