Message Cause Remedy
Replace toner cartridge. (Black) Printing is not possible because toner of the
displayed colour has run out.

Cleaning the drum... Please wait a
moment...
The machine is cleaning its drum. Wait for the machine to nish cleaning the drum. When
cleaning is complete, printing automatically resumes.
The Dept. ID or PIN is incorrect. The entered Department ID and password is
not registered.
Contact your System Manager for the department to nd
out the Department ID and password.
Remove the paper from the output
tray.
Previous prints remain in the tray. Remove the paper that remains in the tray. Printing will
start or resume automatically.
Remove the original from the feeder. There is an original loaded in the feeder and
on the platen glass when a mode that cannot
scan originals loaded in the feeder is set.
Remove the original from the feeder.
Cannot send because the memory is
full. Wait a moment, then try again.
Sending could not be performed because the
memory is full.
Lower the resolution, and perform sending again.
Delete any unnecessary les in the Fax/I-Fax Inbox to free
up the memory. (See e-Manual > Fax/I-Fax Inbox.)
If this problem occurs frequently, contact your local
authorized Canon dealer.
Load paper. The paper drawer is not inserted correctly. Insert the paper drawer as far as it will go. (See p. 53)
Printing cannot be performed because the
paper has run out.

Scanning was stopped because the
data size of the original exceeded
the limit. Scanning may be possible if
data compression ratio is set to high,
resolution is set lower, or sharpness is
reduced.
Scanning was cancelled because the data
size of the scanned originals exceeded the
maximum size that the machine can handle.
You may be able to resolve the problem by decreasing
the sharpness or setting the original type to the Text
mode.
