Under Mac OS X

Switch to Advanced Mode and click [Image Processing].

Set [Prevent Bleed Through / Remove Background] to [ON] and adjust the
slider to control the level of bleed-through prevention and background
removal.
This section describes the procedure for setting to omit borders and ruled lines
of a specified color (red, green, or blue) from the scanned image.
Under Windows
NOTE
When the [Mode] setting is [24-bit Color] or [Auto Color Detection], the settings
below are not available.

In the ISIS/TWAIN driver properties dialog box, click the [Image
processing] tab → select the color to omit from the [Front] and [Back]
drop-down lists under Color drop-out, as necessary.
