Specifications

When using the EF500mm f/4L IS USM or the
EF600mm f/4L IS USM with the EF2× II
extender, set the focus mode to MF. With the
EOS-1V/HS, EOS-3, EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-
1Ds, EOS-1D Mark II N, EOS-1D Mark II or
EOS-1D cameras, auto-focusing is only effective
for the central focusing point.
When taking pictures on an EOS 5 using an
EF1.4× II or EF2× II extender with the
EF500mm f/4L IS USM or the EF600mm f/4L IS
USM lens, use the exposure compensation
values shown in the table below.
Extenders cannot be used more than one at a
time.

with an extender, in order to maintain the precision
of autofocus control.
