Adjusting the Focus

The camcorder incorporates Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, allowing you to use continuous AF or one-shot AF

while shooting. Select the focusing method that best fulfils your needs and is most suited for the lens you are

using. Refer also to the instruction manual of the lens. When using a lens included with a lens kit, refer only to the

explanations in this section.

Manual focus: Turn the focus ring on the lens or use the Browser Remote application to adjust the focus. The

camcorder offers several focus assistance functions to help you focus more accurately when using the manual

focus.

One-shot AF*: With the lens's focus mode switch set to AF, press the ONE-SHOT AF button or use the Browser

Remote application to temporarily let the camcorder focus automatically on the subject at the center of the

screen.

Continuous AF*: The camcorder continuously focuses on the subject at the center of the screen. By pressing the

AF LOCK button, you can change the composition of the picture while keeping the focus.

Face AF**: The camcorder automatically detects a person's face, focuses on it and can track it if that person

moves.

* Available when an EF lens (except manual focus lenses) is attached to the camcorder.

**Available only with compatible EF lenses (A 65).

Focusing methods and required settings

[~ Camera Setup] > [AF] > [Mode].

Depending on the lens, the focus ring may be disabled when the focus mode switch is set to AF.

Manual Focus

Using the Focus Ring

1 Set the focus mode with on the lens to MF (manual focus) mode.

• [MF] will appear on the screen.

2 Turn the focus ring to adjust the focus.

• With some EF lenses, you may be able to operate the focus ring even when the focus mode switch on the

lens is set to AF.

Remote Operation Using Browser Remote

After completing the necessary preparations (A 153), you can adjust the focus remotely from a Wi-Fi-enabled

device using the Browser Remote application.

1 Set the focus mode switch on the lens to AF (autofocus) mode.
