Recording Audio
Activating the Microphone’s Attenuator
If the audio level is too high and the sound sounds distorted, activate the
microphone attenuator (20 dB).
1 Open the [MIC Att.] submenu.
[¡ Audio Setup] > [Audio Input] > [MIC Att.]
2 Select [On] and then press SET.
Monitoring the Audio with Headphones
Connect headphones with a 3.5 mm stereo mini-plug to the
× (headphone) terminal to monitor the recorded audio.
NOTESNOTES
You can adjust the headphone volume with the [¡ Audio Setup] >
[Audio Output] > [Headphone Volume] setting. If you set an assignable
button to [Headphones +] or [Headphones –] (A 135), you can press
the button to adjust the headphone volume without using the menu.

About the monaural microphone
The monaural microphone allows you to add comments while shooting, which
can be synchronized to the audio and video during editing. The audio
recording level of the monaural microphone is adjusted automatically and
cannot be changed. To use the monaural microphone, set [¡ Audio Setup]
> [Audio Input] > [Monaural Mic] to [On].
NOTESNOTES
When an external microphone is connected to the MIC terminal and either
the supplied monitor unit or an optional MA-400 Microphone Adapter is
connected to the camera, the built-in monaural microphone cannot be used
for recording audio.
