Cause 3.
The operating system has been set up such that devices cannot be discovered.
Remedy
To display a device in the shared printer list, change the settings of the operating system according to the
following procedure.
(1) Click [Programs] > [Programs and Features] from the [Control Panel] of Windows.
(2) Click [Turn Windows features on or off] in the [Programs and Features] screen.
(3) Enable [SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support] in the [Windows Features] screen → click [OK].
You may need to restart the computer to enable the new setting.
For a server operating system, select [Manage] > [Add Roles and Features] from [Server Manager] and
enable [Features] > [SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support].
(4) After you have nished installing the driver, return the settings to their original values.
The above changes to the settings are only required for driver installation. It is recommended that you
return [SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support] to its original setting when driver installation is complete.
Cause 4.
The network environment is one in which devices cannot be discovered.
Remedy
In a TCP/IP network environment, set it up so that the device you want to discover and the computer you are
using are on the same subnet.
If the device you want to discover is connected to a network environment that does not use either TCP/IP or
WSD, install the driver by specifying a port or IP address.
Cause 5.
The driver corresponding to the discovered device is already installed.
Remedy
If you want to install a driver by discovering a device, uninstall the driver rst, then discover it again.
