5.3 Replacing the Pick Roller

1. Remove any documents on the ADF Paper Chute.
2. Remove the ADF paper chute.
3. Open the ADF by pulling the ADF Open Lever.
Caution
Be careful, the ADF may close and pinch your finger.
4. Remove the Sheet Guide.
Grip the knobs on the sheet guide with your fingers, and lift it up to remove.
5. Rotate the Pick Roller Bushing in the direction of the arrow.

6. Remove the Pick Roller with its shaft.
Hold the left part of the shaft, and raise it to remove the shaft from the scanner while pulling the shaft
to the left.
Caution
The Pick roller Bushing is hard. Do not turn this bearing with your
fingernails.
Use a paper clip for turning the roller bushing if you can not rotate it with
your finger.
ATTENTION
If the area around the pick roller is dirty by paper-powder, it may cause a
scanning error. Remove the dirt using a dry cloth with dollop of Cleaner
F1.
* Do not use water, mild detergent or air-spray.
7. Remove the pick roller from its shaft.
Pull out the shaft from the pick roller while lifting up its tab.
