Press “DOWN ARROW” seven more times to get to “IDLE” check box;
Press “ENTER” once to put a “Tick” in the check box;
Press “DOWN ARROW” twice more to highlight the “OK” box;
Press “ENTER” to OK the selection and exit the “PAGE 4” window; and
Press “CANCEL” twice to exit all menus.
While in setup mode, it might be as well to check that the projector is setup for 38400 communications. This is done in on Page
5 of the SETUP menu entered as above from PROJECTOR OPTIONS. On some, the lack of a “Projector Comms OK”
message is a clue that an “Idle” mode has to be disabled, even on other models.
NEC projectors: Group 7: HT410/510, LT180
The following table shows the mapping of T460 channel number, the string sent, and the input associated with that channel in
the manual, and how it is identified on the on-screen menu:
NO AUDIO VIA SERIAL CONTROL. Use T461 or if no audio is needed, use a Mute On/Mute Off keyboard. (No freeze
provided)
T460 Channel TX codes (last 2 bytes) Input name in manual Function as identified on screen
1 01h 09h RGB RGB
2 11h 19h Component (Y, Cb/Pb, Cr/Pr) Component
3 06h 0Eh VIDEO VIDEO
4 0Bh 13h S-VIDEO S-VIDEO
Don’t forget to set all unused T460 channels to “Skip” to jump over blank/unused inputs.
Special setup for NEC LT265/245 (& possibly others) with “Power-saving” mode
Go to : Advanced menu >> Setup >>Installation >> Standby Mode, and in the “Standby Mode”, window select “Normal”.
(In “Power-saving” mode RS232 communications is disabled, so the On command does not work.) Check baud rate as well.
RS232 connections to NEC projectors
Communications are at either 19200 or 38400 baud, and varies from model to model. On units which have set-able speed, we
use 19200. These use a male 8-pin mini-DIN (except MT1060/6575):
Function/Direction T460 “projector”

“Serial” Port

Ground Ground 8-pin mini-DIN pin 4
Data from T460 to projector Tx 8-pin mini-DIN pin 1

After installation wiring of any projector to a T460, use a multimeter to check voltages of –9 on BOTH TX and RX pins in any
installation, as described in the troubleshooting part of this manual.
Note: On the LT260 (and maybe the 240 and 220) the measured voltages from the projector were considerably lower,
measuring a standing –4 volts, and signals going to +4 peak, which is OK for the RS232 spec, but lower than usual. (The T460
puts out + and – 9 volt signals.)
If the lower output drive from the projector causes problems driving long cables, on projector where baud rate can be
altered, an option exists to set the T460 coms to 4800 baud by setting FLAG1. Change proj. to 4800 also.
