A. Blank Exposure Mechanism
The blank exposure mechanism
is
used
to
remove
the potential from the non-image sections of the
drum
in
the REDUCTION mode or lo
suit
paper
sizes;
see
p.
3-37.
The light from the pre-exposure lamp
is
reflected
by the reflecting plate and directed onto the
photosensitive drum.
The non-image section between two sheets of
copy paper
is
kept free of toner by lowering the grid
bias of the primary corona
unit,
instead of
using
the
blank exposure mechanism to remove the potential
of the drum.
B.
Ozone Filter
The fan unit
is
equipped with
an
ozone filter, which
breaks down the ozone generated by the coronas
into oxygen by catalytic action.
