Metered Manual Flash Exposure
When using an EOS-1D series camera, the ash exposure level can
be manually set before shooting. This is eective when you are close
to the subject. Use an 18% gray reector (commercially available) and
shoot as follows.

Congure the camera and Speedlite settings.

Set the camera’s shooting mode to <

Set the Speedlite’s ash mode to <

Focus on the subject.

Focus manually.

Set up an 18% gray reector.
z
Place the gray reector at the subject’s position.
z
Aim the camera so that the entire spot metering circle within the
viewnder center is over the gray reector.

The Speedlite res a preash and stores the required ash
output for suitable ash exposure in memory.

On the right side of the viewnder, the exposure level indicator
will show the ash exposure level against the standard
exposure.

Set the ash exposure level.

Adjust the Speedlite’s manual ash output and the
aperture so that the ash exposure level aligns
with the standard exposure index.

Take the picture.

Remove the gray reector and take the picture.
Metered manual ash exposure is available only with EOS-1D series
cameras.
