5.3 MANUAL Measurement
– 28 –
Have the examinee look at the eye fixation lamp
Have the examinee look at the green internal eye fixation lamp.
If the examinee cannot see
the lamp well and so the eye
cannot be fixed
Press FIXATION switch and have
the examinee look at the external
eye fixation lamp on the side of
the nozzle with the eye that is
not going to be measured.
Check that the alignment ring is not covered by eyelashes
Looking at the monitor, check that the inner alignment ring (see the illustration in
step 5 below) is not covered by eyelashes. If they are covering the ring, instruct the
examinee to keep his/her eye opened wide until measurement ends, or help them
open the eye wider by lifting up his/her upper eyelid lightly with your fingers.
NOTE: Value may become high when eye is covered by eyelid or eyelashes.
Perform alignment
Use the trackball to position the bright dots inside the center alignment ring.
If you cannot see the dots clearly, turn the roller back and forth until you can see
them.
NOTE: It may not be possible to see the bright dots clearly if the cornea is mark-
edly deformed or when the examinee has serious keratitis. In this case,
measurement may result in an error even in MANUAL mode.
