Overview 1. Overview 1.1. Intoroduction This user’s manual describes the operating procedure for “Backup Tool”, which is to backup setting values of Network Camera VB-C300/VB-C300B (hereafter referred to as ‘VB-C300’), and “Restore Tool”, which is to restore the setting values to VB-C300. Backup Tool retrieves the setting values of VB-C300 and creates files in an original file format (hereafter referred to as ‘Backup File’). Setting values of up to 30 cameras can be backed up at one time.
Overview Note ● Don’t unplug or turn off the camera during the backup/restore process, or it might cause damage to the camera. ● Don’t run Backup Tool or Restore Tool at the same time on multiple PCs, which are connected to the same network. It might cause damage to the cameras. ● When you use VB-C300 with Windows Vista, don’t store exe files for Backup Tool [VBC300BK.exe] and Restore Tool [VBC300RS.exe] onto [C:¥windows] or [C:¥Program Files].

Enter Camera Information One by One in [Camera Information Entry Dialog] ● Enter camera information in [Camera Information Entry Dialog]. ① ② ③ ④ ⑤ ⑥ Enter camera information ⑦ ⑧ ① Host Name Enter camera’s host name or IP address. ② HTTP Port (Default:80) Enter camera’s HTTP Port number. ③ Administrator Account Enter camera’s administrator account [root]. ④ Administrator Password Enter camera’s administrator password.

Backup Tool Operating Procedure Upon completion of the backup process, the results are displayed in the log list dialog box. For more information about the logs, please refer to section 2.7 (page 14). Note If a backup file is saved as the same name as the log file, the log information will be added to the backup file. So, don’t use the same name for backup files as the log file. The log file name is originally set to [VBC300BK.log].

Read Camera Information from Camera Specification File ● For backup of multiple cameras, it is reccomended to read camera information from a camera specification file. ● Add camera information using [Add from Camera Specification File]. ① ② ① Add camera information using a camera specification file A camera specification file is a CSV-format file including a list of camera information, of which you want to backup the setting values.

Backup Tool Operating Procedure ■ Omission of camera information Camera information can be omitted, except “Host Name” and “Backup File Name”. Each default value is as mentioned in the above list [Contents of a camera specification file]. “Host Name” and “Backup File Name” are must, so if the information are omitted, the camera specification file won’t be read. Without required information, the file cannot be read.
Backup Tool Operating Procedure ② Execution Click [Start] to execute the backup process. Upon completion of the backup process, the results are displayed in the log list dialog box. For more information about the logs, please refer to section 2.7 (page 14).
Backup Tool Operating Procedure 2.6. Deletion of Camera Information ● Click the [Delete Camera Information] button to delete added camera information from a camera information list. Select camera information from the list and click the [Delete Camera Information] button. The [Delete Camera Information] button becomes active only when camera information is selected.

Log List and Log File Saving ● After executing the backup process, the results are displayed in the log list and the log file is automatically saved. ● The log file is automatically saved in a folder, where Backup Tool exe file [VBC300BK.exe] is located. ● The log file is automatically saved as [VBC300BK.log]. ● If the log file fails to be saved, the [Save] button will appear in the log list dialog, which enables you to save the file manually.
Backup Tool Operating Procedure ● The following message is displayed when you operate as mentioned below with the log file unsaved, after the log file fails to be saved. If you need to save the log file, press [No] in the message dialog then press [Save] in the log list to save the file manually. [The Close button was pressed to close the log list dialog.] [The Start button was pressed to restart the backup process before closing the log list dialog.] [The close button was pressed to close Backup Tool.

Restore Tool Operating Procedure ⑥ Restoration of Administrator Account and User List Checked: The administrator password, authorized user list and the passwords are to be returned to the one which were taken when the backup file was created. Unchecked: The administrator password, authorized user list and the passwords are not to be restored. Check box for restoring the administrator password and the user list The following message is displayed when clicking [Start] after checking the box.
Restore Tool Operating Procedure ⑦ Execution Click the [Start] button to execute the restore process. The camera will be rebooted automatically if the restore process completed successfully.

Log List and Log File Saving ● Upon completion of the restore process, the results are displayed in the log list and the log file is saved automatically. ● The log file is automatically saved in a folder, where Restore Tool exe file [VBC300RS.exe] file is located. ● The log file is saved as [VBC300RS.log]. ● If the log file fails to be saved, the [Save] button will appear in the Restore Tool dialog, which enables you to save the file manually.

[Restore Tool is about to be closed.] ● If the log file already exists, new logs will be added to the file. If you specify the existing log file to save a log file manually after the log file failes to be saved, the file will be overwritten ● The date format is YYYY/MM/DD. 3.5.
