Recording Audio
The camcorder features 2-channel AAC audio recording and playback. You can record audio using the
built-in microphone, or the MIC terminal (commercially available microphones).
When recording outdoors in the open, the built-in microphone may record loud audible wind noise. In
such cases, using an external microphone with a foam cover or wind screen is recommended.
The audio signal will be output along with the video signal from the HDMI OUT terminal. You can
record this audio signal on an external recorder.
Using Commercially Available Microphones
You can also use commercially available condenser microphones
with their own power supply. You can connect almost any stereo
microphone with a ∅ 3.5 mm mini plug but audio recording
levels may vary.
The camcorder will record audio from the built-in microphone
unless an external microphone is connected to the MIC terminal.
NOTES
• To adjust the audio recording level of an external microphone
connected to the MIC terminal, refer to
Audio Recording Level
(A 67).
Audio Scenes
You can have the camcorder optimize the audio settings of the built-in microphone by selecting the
audio scene that matches your surroundings. This will greatly enhance the sense of "being there".
Alternatively, you can select [„ Custom Setting]* in order to adjust the camcorder's various audio
settings to your liking.
See the following table for the settings used by each audio scene.
* Not available in mode.
1 Open the audio scene selection screen.
[FUNC] > [C Audio] > [‘]
2 Select the desired option and then select [X].
• When you select [„ Custom Setting], customize the audio settings to your preference with the
relevant procedures (see the reference pages in the following table).
Operating modes:
Adjusting the L and R channels of the MIC terminal independently
You can use the > [¡ Audio Setup] > [MIC ALC Link] setting to separate the audio
level adjustment for the L and R channels of an external microphone connected to the MIC
terminal, allowing each channel to be adjusted independently.
