3. Prepare Patient and Position
Probe
Let the patient lie in a supine position with
abdominal muscle relaxed.
Place an ample quantity of ultrasound gel on
the patients abdomen, approximately 3cm
above the pubic bone, and on the probe.
Gently press the probe onto the lower
abdomen through the gel and ensure the
probe’s button is oriented at the patients head.
4. Pre-Scan and Scan
Pre-Scan in Expert mode:
Press and release the button on the probe to
start the Pre-scan process ( you could view a
real-time ultrasound image of the bladder once
the process begins). Angle the probe along the
bodys middle line and tilt it slightly side to
side to ensure the bladder area at maximum is
centered. Once the bladder is located, press
and release the button on the probe again to
start the automatic scanning and calculation.
Lift the probe once you hear it sounds ‘beep’
tone. The bladder volume will be displayed on
the screen immediately after the scan is
complete in around 5 seconds.
