Safety Precautions Thank you for selecting this CASIO product. Be sure to read these “Safety Precautions” before trying to use it. After reading this User’s Guide, keep it in a safe place for future reference. About safety symbols Various symbols are used in this User’s Guide and on the product itself to ensure safe use, and to protect you and others against the risk of injury and against material damage. The meaning of each of the symbols is explained below.
* Danger - Battery (Optional YA-B10) • Do not pack a battery together with any conductive material (metal necklaces, coins, etc.) for transport or storage. • Do not allow a battery to be pierced by a needle or subjected to strong impact (hammer blow, stepping, etc.) • Do not place a battery into a microwave oven, dryer, pressurized container, etc. Charge a battery only as specifically directed.
* Warning Precautions During Use + AC adapter Adult supervision is required whenever there are young children present and especially when there is the possibility of young children coming into contact with the projector. Do not touch the AC adapter with wet hands. " Be sure to observe the precautions below when using the AC adapter. * Warning Do not place a vase or any other container of liquid on top of the AC adapter. % Do not use the product if it is malfunctioning. Do not continue using the product if its display is abnormal or if it is malfunctioning. * Warning Avoid Looking into the Light Objects Blocking Projection Do not look directly into the lens, the intake or exhaust vents while the light is on. Make sure there are no objects that can block the light in front of the lens while projecting. - The strong light emitted by the light source creates the risk of eye damage. - Such conditions create the risk of fire. Vent Blockage Aquarium, Other Water Tank Do not allow blocking of the intake or exhaust vents.
* Warning Storage and Operation Locations Do not store or use the product in any of the locations described below. - Doing so creates the risk of fire and electric shock.
* Warning Do not use the product in the vicinity of high-precision electronic equipment or any electronic equipment that handles weak signals. YW-41 wireless adapter Keep the wireless adapter out of the reach of small children. + Accidental swallowing of the wireless adapter creates the risk of suffocation and personal injury.
* Caution AC adapter Power Cord Precautions When Cleaning the AC Adapter Observe the precautions below in order to avoid power cord fire and electric shock. - Do not use detergent to clean the power cord connector of the AC adapter or the plug at the end of the AC adapter connector cord. + • Insert the power plug into the outlet as far as it will go.
* Caution Remote Controller Battery Precautions Other Allowing dust to build up inside the projector by not cleaning it for long periods creates the risk of fire and accident, and can cause loss of projection luminosity. Contact your original dealer or authorized CASIO service center once a year about having the interior of the projector cleaned. Note that you will be charged for cleaning. Observe the precautions below.
Operating Precautions About the Light Source Unit The projector’s light source unit uses a laser and LED. The life of the light source unit is rated at approximately 20,000 hours. The actual life will depend on use conditions, the settings configured on the setup menu, and differences between each individual light source unit. The light source unit is warranted for the period noted on the warranty certificate or for 6,000 hours, whichever comes first.
Laser Precautions (See the label on the projector) Laser Precautions (Label ) This projector is a Class 1 laser device that conforms to IEC 60825-1: 2014. This projector has a built-in laser module. Disassembly or modification is very dangerous and should never be attempted. Any operation or adjustment not specifically instructed by the user’s guide creates the risk of hazardous laser radiation exposure. Label Bottom Laser Notice No.
AC Adapter Precautions To prevent shorts in the AC adapter connector cord, note the precautions below. Do not use strong force to pull on the cord. Do not use strong force when coiling the cord. Do not bend the cord at the point where it connects to the AC adapter (Figure 1). Do not wrap the cord around the AC adapter (Figure 2). When coiling the cord, secure it with the hook-and-loop fastener in a way that does not put pressure on the point where the cord connects to the AC adapter (Figure 3). .
Battery (Optional YA-B10) Precautions * Battery Precautions Observe the precautions below. Failure to do so can cause the battery to explode or leak flammable liquid or gas. Do not burn a battery or dispose of it in an incinerator, or by mechanical crushing or cutting. Do not subject a battery to excessively high or low temperatures during use, storage, or transport. Do not subject a battery to excessively low barometric pressure during use, storage, or transport.
Handling rechargeable batteries (Please recycle!) Be sure to recycle no longer needed batteries to help conserve precious resources. Do not disassemble batteries. Recycle them “as-is”. Contact your original dealer or authorized CASIO service center for information about recycling. Soft Inner Case (Optional YB-3) Precautions The soft inner case protects your projector and battery from scratching and dust. It does not protect against damage due to dropping or strong external impact.
Avoid using the projector under the following conditions. Such conditions create the risk of malfunction of and damage to the projector. Avoid areas subject to temperature extremes (operating temperature range is 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F)). Never place heavy objects on the projector or climb on top of the projector. Never insert or allow foreign objects to drop into the projector. Never place a vase or any other container of water on top of the projector. .
Keystone Correction and Image Quality Performing keystone correction causes the image to be compressed before it is projected. This can result distortion of the image or a loss of image quality. If this happens, change orientation of the projector and/or screen so it conforms as much as possible to the illustration under “Placing the Projector on a Desk or on the Floor” (page 36).
Precautions when Handling the Projector after Use The bottom of the projector, as well as its exhaust vents and the area around the vents, becomes very hot during operation and will remain hot immediately after turning off the projector. When moving the projector, be sure first to turn off power and disconnect the AC adapter (or battery) from the projector. Hold the projector, as shown in the illustration below. Important! Note the following precautions while carrying the projector.
Getting Ready Unpacking As you unpack the projector, check to make sure that all of the items listed below are present. Important! Network model users in the United States and Canada The first time the projector is turned on, you will be prompted to specify a language and to create a password. Follow the instructions that appear on the display to create a password. For details about the password, see “Using a Password” (page 66). Note This product is also designed for IT power distribution system with phase-to-phase voltage 230V.

Preparing a Power Source Your projector can be powered using the AC adapter (AD-1979PL) that comes with it or an optionally available battery (YA-B10). Using the AC Adapter to Power the Projector To power the projector using the AC adapter that comes with it, connect the AC adapter as shown in the illustration below. Be sure to connect in the sequence indicated by the numbers in the illustration: , , . AC adapter Plug into power outlet.
Using a Battery to Power the Projector The optionally available battery (YA-B10) must be charged before it can be used to power the projector. The optionally available battery (YA-B10) must be charged before it can be used to power the projector. If you are using a battery for the first time or if a battery has not been used for a long time, be sure to charge it fully before use.
Connecting the Battery to the Projector To power the projector using the battery, connect the (charged) battery to the projector as shown in the illustration below. Battery DC IN terminal Note For information about the amount of projector operating time provided by the battery, see “Specifications” (page 79). You can find out the battery’s current charge level by checking the battery level indicator. For details, see “Battery Level Indicator” (page 31).
Battery Level Indicator You can find out the battery’s charge level by checking the battery level indicator. To find out the battery’s charge level, press its check button, and observe the battery level indicator lights. Note Pressing the battery’s check button while the battery is disconnected from both the AC adapter and the projector will cause indicator lights to light in accordance with the current battery level.
If icon is displayed Though it will take some time before the battery goes dead after this icon appears, you should connect the AC adapter and charge the battery as soon as possible. For information about how to connect, see “Charging the Battery While it is Connected to the Projector” (page 30). If you continue using the projector after this icon is displayed, icon will appear when the battery level drops to 10% or lower.
Turning the Projector On 1. Use the procedure under “Preparing a Power Source” (page 28) to connect the projector to a power source. 2. Press the [P] key to turn on the projector. Turning on the projector will cause the POWER/STANDBY indicator (green) to flash for a few seconds, and then stop flashing. Projection will start at this time.
Turning the Projector Off 1. To turn off the projector, press the [P] key. If the projector is being powered by the AC adapter, the POWER/STANDBY indicator (red) will flash for a few seconds, and then stop flashing and remain lit. If the projector is being powered by a battery, the POWER/STANDBY indicator (red) will flash for a few seconds, and then go out. 2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the projector and then unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
Placing the Projector on a Desk or on the Floor Locate the projector on a desk, table, or stand that is firm and level. Make sure that you allow sufficient space around the sides and back of the projector for proper ventilation. The illustration below shows how the projector should be oriented relative to the screen for optimum projection. Screen Test Pattern You can project a test pattern when setting up the projector to help determine the proper image size, projector orientation, etc.
Adjusting the Vertical Angle of the Projector When the projection screen (whiteboard, etc.) is positioned at a higher elevation than the projector, you can use the tilt foot on the bottom of the projector to adjust its angle. Tilt foot 1. Hook your finger on the recessed part in the center of the tilt foot and open the foot (Figure , above). Note the following precautions when performing tilt foot operations.
3. Adjust the tilt angle while checking the result on the projection screen. Important! Close the tilt foot before moving the projector to a different location. Never use the tilt foot as a carrying handle when transporting the projector. Doing so can damage the tilt foot and/or projector, and can cause the projector to fall. Do not try to force the tilt foot any further than it will naturally go. Doing so can damage the tilt foot and/or projector.
Connecting with Another Device Before starting projection, you first need to connect a computer, video device, and/or other devices to the projector. When selecting a cable, make sure that the shapes of its connectors match the shapes of the terminals on the projector and the devices being connected. HDMI Cable Connection You can use an HDMI cable to connect the projector to a computer or video device as shown in the illustration below.
N Wireless LAN Connection (Network model only) You can use wireless LAN to connect a computer or smart device to the projector. For details about wireless LAN connection, see the separate “Network Function Guide”. Connecting the Wireless Adapter To use the wireless LAN function, you need to connect the wireless adapter (YW-41) that comes with the projector. For detailed information about installation of the wireless adapter, refer to the instructions that come with the projector.
LOGO Terminal (Firmware Updates, User Logo Transfers) You can update the projector’s firmware (software in the projector’s flash ROM) using a computer connected to the projector’s LOGO terminal. You can also transfer user logo images from the computer to the projector. Projector LOGO terminal (USB Micro B) Computer To USB port For information about operations after connection, refer to the documentation below, which is available from the CASIO website.
Optionally Available Remote Controller You can use the optionally available wireless remote controller (YT-161) to perform projector operations. Point the remote controller signal emitter at the signal receiver on the projector as you perform remote controller key operations. The maximum range of the remote controller signal is approximately 5 meters (16.4 feet) (between signal emitter and receiver). Remote control signal emitter Turns power on or off.
Operating the Projector Auto Input Source Switching N (Network model only) When the projector detects a signal from an input source (HDMI input or network input), it automatically switches to that input source and starts projection. You do not need to perform any projector key operation to switch the source. Computer A Network projection (Input source: Network) Detects the last signal received and switches to its source.
2. On computer A, which is already network-connected to the projector, start up CConnection and then click (start projection). The projector will detect network input from Computer A and automatically switch its input source to “Network”.*1 This will start network projection of the Computer A screen. At this time, the HDMI connection between Computer B and the projector will be maintained. Switching the input source to “HDMI” (step 3, below) will resume HDMI projection of the Computer B screen. 3.
Frequent Functions Menu The Frequent Functions Menu provides access to projector adjustments and settings, and to specific functions. Pressing the [MENU], [] or [] key displays the Frequent Functions Menu in the projection image. The Frequent Functions Menu includes the items below.

Correcting Vertical and Horizontal Keystoning Manually You can use the procedure below to correct for vertical and horizontal keystoning caused by the positioning of the projector in relation to the projection surface. You can adjust keystoning vertically and horizontally within a range of ±30° each. Your projector performs automatic vertical keystone correction.
Adjusting Projection Brightness (Light Control) Light Control lets you adjust the light being output by the projector (light source brightness). Important! You will not be able to change the Light Control setting while “On” is selected for the “Bright Mode” setting. If it is, use the procedure under “Bright Mode (Maximum Brightness)” (page 49) to change the “Bright Mode” setting to “Off”. (The initial default setting for “Bright Mode” is “Off”.) 1. Press the [] or [] key.
Bright Mode (Maximum Brightness) When you want to use the projection light at maximum brightness, use the operation below to change the Setup Menu “Bright Mode” setting to “On”. Note that “On” can be selected for the “Bright Mode” only while the projector is being powered by the AC adapter. 1. Press the [MENU] key to display the Frequent Functions Menu. 2. Press the [] key, select “Setup Menu”, and then the [ENTER] key. This displays the Setup Menu. 3.
N Changing the Input Source (Network model only) The procedure below toggles the current input source setting between “Network” and “HDMI”. 1. Press the [MENU] key to display the Frequent Functions Menu. 2. Use the [] and [] keys to select “Switch Input”. 3. Press the [ENTER] or [] key. This toggles the input source setting and closes the menu. Note The operation below can be performed using the remote controller. – In place of steps 1 and 2, press the [INPUT] key.
Operations Using the Setup Menu Changing the Aspect Ratio of the Projected Image Under initial default settings, projection is performed by maintaining the aspect ratio of the input signal. You can also change the aspect ratio setting if you want. 1. Display the Setup Menu (page 50). 2. Use the [] and [] keys to select “Screen Settings” and then press the [ENTER] key. 3. Use the [] and [] keys to select “Aspect Ratio”. 4. Use the [] and [] keys to change the Aspect Ratio setting.
Aspect Ratio Setting Details Normal Projects at the projector’s maximum possible size while maintaining the input signal aspect ratio. Full Projects at the projector’s maximum possible size by enlarging or reducing the input signal. 16:9 This setting specifies a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is the same as a movie screen, high-definition TV, etc. Using this setting when the input signal is a 16:9 image that has been squeezed to a 4:3 image causes the image to be displayed with its normal 16:9 aspect ratio.
5. After the settings are the way you want, press the [MENU] key. Note The operation below can be performed using the remote controller. – Press the [FUNC] key. Use the menu that appears in the projection image to select a color mode as in step 3 of the above procedure, and then perform step 4 and 5. Flipping the Projected Image Horizontally (Mirror Mode) The projector’s Mirror Mode flips the projected image horizontally. 1. Display the Setup Menu (page 50). 2.
Projecting the Test Pattern You can use the operations below to have the Projector project the test pattern as a No Signal Screen (page 57) or Blank Screen (page 57). Use the test pattern when adjusting the parameters of the projected image (position, size, keystone correction, focus, aspect ratio, etc.) The test pattern is useful for making fine adjustments after wallmounting the projector.
To project the test pattern as the blank screen Note The “Blank” function can be used when controlling the projector with the optional remote controller. For details about the blank screen, see “Functions that Can be Controlled with the Optional Remote Controller” (page 61). 1. Display the Setup Menu (page 50). 2. Use the [] and [] keys to select “Screen Settings” and then press the [ENTER] key. 3. Use the [] and [] keys to select “Blank Screen”. 4.
To unlock the control panel Perform one of the operations below. While there is no menu or dialog box displayed in the projection image, hold down the projector’s [] key. Release the key when the message “Control panel was unlocked.” appears. To use the remote controller to unlock the control panel, perform the procedure under “To lock the control panel” above. In step 4, press the [] key of the remote controller to select “Off” and then press the [MENU] key.
Use this menu item: To do this: Screen Settings 3 Horizontal Keystone Correction Correct horizontal keystoning of the projected image. Screen Settings 3 Correction Priority Enable or disable keystone corrected projection image distortion reduction. Shape*: Reduces projected image distortion when keystone correction is performed. The resulting projection area will be slightly smaller than normal.
Use this menu item: To do this: Input Settings 3 HDMI Equalizer Configure equalizer settings for the HDMI input signal. Normally the “Auto*” setting should be used. However, if you experience problems projecting an HDMI signal or if image noise is generated, you can change this setting to a value from 1 to 5. Changing this setting will close the Setup Menu. Input Settings 3 HDMI Input Range Specify the input range setting of the HDMI input signal.
Use this menu item: To do this: Option Settings 1 3 Restore Menu Defaults Return all of the items in the “Option Settings 1” menu to their initial defaults for the currently projecting image source. Option Settings 2 3 Audio Out N Specify whether audio input from the input sources should be output to the projector’s speaker (Speaker*) or output to an external destination from the projector’s AUDIO OUT terminal (Line).
Use this menu item: To do this: Operational Info Display the projector information below. Input Signal, Signal Name, Resolution, Horizontal Frequency, Vertical Frequency, Scan System, Audio Input, Light Time, Version (projector ROM version), Board Number (unique board number of each product) Restore All Defaults 3 Unit Operating Time Display the cumulative operating time of this unit. This time cannot be initialized.
Functions that Can be Controlled with the Optional Remote Controller You can use the optionally available wireless remote controller (YT-161) to perform the operations described below. Digital Zoom: ([D-ZOOM] key) You can use digital zoom to enlarge a specific part of the projected image to up to twice its original size. Blank ([BLANK] key) Pressing the [BLANK] key cuts off the signal from the input source. Under initial default settings, nothing is displayed while projection is blanked.
Using Auto Projection Off Auto Projection Off automatically turns off the projection light approximately 10 seconds after the input signal from an input source is lost during projection. The light will turn back on and projection will resume if the input signal is restored within a fixed amount of time after the light turns off.* * Within 20 minutes if the projector is being powered by the AC adapter or approximately five minutes during battery-powered operation.
Enabling and Disabling Auto Projection Off Auto Projection Off is disabled under initial projector default settings. To enable Auto Projection Off, change “Screen Settings 3 Auto Projection Off” (page 57) on the Setup Menu to “Enable”.
Using the Presentation Timer The presentation timer shows the time remaining for a presentation. Under initial default settings, the presentation timer is displayed discreetly in the lower right corner of the projection screen. To display the timer function menu 1. Press the [MENU] key to display the Frequent Functions Menu. 2. Press the [] key, select “Setup Menu”, and then the [ENTER] key. This displays the Setup Menu. 3.
To configure timer settings 1. Use the [TIMER] key to display the timer function menu (page 64). 2. Use the [] and [] keys to select the “Position”, “Continuous Display”, or “Start Time” setting and then change the settings as described in the table below. 3.
Using a Password You can use the procedure in this section to password protect projector operations. You can have only one password assigned to the projector at any time, and the same password is used for operations. Power On Password Protection Turning on the projector will display a dialog box prompting input of the password.
Using the Password Feature Note the following precautions whenever you use the password feature. The password feature protects against unauthorized use of the projector. Note that it is not an antitheft measure. If you have an optionally available remote controller (YT-161), you can use it to change the password and password protection settings. The initial default password will remain in effect until you change it using the procedure under “Change the password” (page 66).
Cleaning the Projector Make it a habit to clean the projector at regular intervals as described in this section. Before cleaning the projector, be sure to disconnect the AC adapter (or battery) from it and make sure it is cooled down completely. Cleaning the Projector Exterior Wipe the exterior of the projector with a soft cloth that has been moistened in a weak solution of water and a mild neutral detergent. Be sure to wring all excess moisture from the cloth before wiping.
Troubleshooting Normal Operation Indicators The color and on/off/flashing status of the indicators let you know the current operational status of the projector. The table below shows what the indicators look like when operation is normal. ■ : Lit ★ : Flashing POWER/ STANDBY STATUS Meaning ■ ■ Amber Amber Indicators light for a few seconds immediately after the projector is connected to a power source (AC adapter or battery).
Note The POWER/STANDBY indicator will flash green if the projector is turned on but the projection light has been turned off by Auto Projection Off (page 62). Error Indicators and Messages Important! If you turn off power or if power turns off automatically after an error occurs, first confirm that the projector’s fan is stopped. After the fan stops, unplug the power cord and disconnect the AC adapter (or battery).
Indicator Status When an Error Occurs Fan error POWER/STANDBY : Lit red STATUS : Flashes amber (Approximately 0.5-second intervals) Power has turned off automatically due to a fan problem. Confirm that the POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit red (without flashing) and that the fan has stopped. After checking the POWER/ STANDBY indicator, disconnect the AC adapter (or battery) from the projector and wait for all of the projector’s indicators to go out.
Projector Troubleshooting Check the following items whenever you experience any problem with the projector. Problem Cause and Recommended Action Power does not turn on. The AC adapter or battery may not be connected correctly to the projector. Refer to “Preparing a Power Source” (page 28) and check the connection. When the projector is being powered by the battery only, press the battery’s check button to check the battery level (page 31).
Problem Cause and Recommended Action Turning on projector power causes the following message to appear “Please input the password.” and the projector stands by for password input. The “Option Settings 1 3 Password 3 Power On Password” setting on the setup menu is turned on, so the projector is password protected. Input the correct password, and then press the [ENTER] key. See page 66. The remote controller does not work. The remote controller batteries may be dead. Replace the batteries.
Checking the Serial Number and Board Number Each projector is assigned a unique serial number and board (circuit board) number to identify it. You can find these numbers at the locations shown below. Serial Number The serial number is shown on label affixed to the projector.
