k Graph Screen Re-calculation and Inverse Calculation
Changing the x value on the graph screen re-calculates the probability value. Changing the
probability value performs inverse calculation of the x value.
Graph Screen Re-calculation
Changing the data value (x) or the Lower boundary (Lower) and Upper boundary (Upper)
causes the probability value ( p) to be re-calculated. To re-calculate, change the highlighted
value in the formula on the graph screen. See the sample screen below.
P (X ≤ x ) = p
P ( Lower ≤ X ≤ Upper ) = p
P (X ≥ x ) = p
P (X = x ) = p (discrete distribution only)
Note
• Re-calculation can be executed regardless of the distribution type and/or Tail setting.
Graph Screen Inverse Calculation
Changing the probability values ( p) causes the data value (x) to be inversely calculated. To
perform inverse calculation, change the highlighted value in the formula on the graph screen.
See the sample screen below.
P (X ≤ x) = p
P (Lower ≤ X ≤ Upper) = p (Normal distribution only)
P (X ≥
x) = p
Note
• Inverse calculations can be executed when either of the conditions below exists.
- When the Tail setting is {
} (X≤) or { } (X≥)
- When the Tail setting is {
} (≤X≤) for normal distribution (Normal distribution only)
• Inverse calculation cannot be executed for discrete distribution when the Tail setting is
{
} (X=).
• If you have selected the Tail setting that does not allow
execution of inverse calculation, pressing K in step 2 of
the procedure under “Inverse Calculation Operation
Example” displays “VIEW” for the 1 function menu item
instead of “EDIT”. Pressing K1(VIEW) displays a value
details dialog box.
