Things to check before using the watch

1. Check the Home City and the daylight saving time (DST) setting.

Use the procedure under “To conﬁ gure Home City settings” (page E-18) to conﬁ gure

your Home City and daylight saving time settings.

Important!

x Proper World Time Mode data depend on correct Home City, time, and date

settings in the Timekeeping Mode. Make sure you configure these settings

correctly.

2. Set the current time.

x See “Adjusting the Current Time and Date Settings” (page E-21).

The watch is now ready for use.

x The operational procedures for Modules 5381 and 5482 are identical. All of the

illustrations in this manual show Module 5381.

Operation Guide 5381/5482 To change the Daylight Saving Time (summer time) setting 1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until ADJ DST indicator appears. x This indicates the city code setting mode. x The hour and minute hands automatically move out of the way at this time (page E-15). 2. Press C to display the DST setting mode. 3. Press D to toggle between Daylight Saving Time (ON) and Standard Time (OFF).

Operation Guide 5381/5482 Temperature Reading Precautions Checking Tide Levels and Moon Ages (Tide/Moon) Body temperature, direct sunlight, and humidity all have an effect on temperature readings. To help ensure more accurate temperature readings, remove the watch from your wrist, wipe it dry of any moisture, and place it in a well-ventilated location not exposed to direct sunlight for about 20 to 30 minutes before taking temperature readings. You can use the watch to check tide levels and Moon ages.

Operation Guide 5381/5482 x To return the time setting to its initial default setting, press D and B at the same time. x Turning on summer time in the Timekeeping Mode, causes the high tide time also to be advanced by one hour. Counter You can use the counter to count up to 999 objects or events. 1. In the Timekeeping Mode, press C to enter the Counter Mode (page E-13). 3. Press A to complete the calibration process. This returns to the tide screen. 2.

While the countdown start time is on the display in the Countdown Timer Mode, hold down A until the current countdown start time starts to ﬂash, which indicates the setting mode. x The hour and minute hands automatically move out of the way at this time (page E-15). x If the countdown start time is not displayed, use the procedure under “To perform a countdown timer operation” (page E-51) to display it.

Time Setting ■ The current time setting is off by hours. Your Home City setting may be wrong (page E-18). Check your Home City setting and correct it, if necessary. ■ The current time setting is off by one hour. You may need to change your Home City’s standard time/daylight saving time (DST) setting.
