Character programming There are two methods you can use to input characters: using a character programming keyboard (menu sheet) for direct input, or using character codes to specify the characters. 5-1-1 Character programming keyboard When you enter the Program 2 mode, the keyboard becomes a character programming keyboard (shown below).
Character programming keyboard (Menu sheet) The character programming keyboard has an upper case “CAP” setting and a “SHIFT” setting. Its initial setting is CAP setting, which remains in effect until you press the key. After you press , the shift setting remains in effect until you press the uppercase key again. Note that neither the nor key operation is counted as a character during programming.
