Before Beginning Operation Make back up copies of important data! Your SF Unit employs electronic memory, which makes it possible to store tare volumes of data and to recall stored data quickly and easily. Data is retained as long as power is supplied by the batteries. This means that should potteries go dead, or if you make & mistake while replacing batteries, the data stored in memory may be damaged or lost entirely.
Afire the Data Error display appears, you will not be able to input o edit data, though you will be able ta recall data (after pressing the kay to clear the display). Following the Data Error display, follow the instructions outlined below. Intersect You must perform the RESET operation (page 153) t clear the memory and return to normal operation. Before doing so, you may want to recall important data and write it down (if you don't already have a copy on paper}.
Precautions Note the following important precautions 1o ensure that you get the most out of your SF Unit. * Never try to take your SF Unit apart. « Avoid strong impact and sudden temperature changes. * At very low temperatures, the display response time may slow down or the display may fail completely. This is temporary, and correct operation should return &t normal temperature.
Precautions Incorrectly using batteries can cause them to burst or leak, possibly damaging the interior of the SF Unit. Note the following precautions: * Be sure that the positive and negative poles of each battery are racing in the proper direction. « Never mix batteries of different types. * Never mix old batteries and new ones. * Never leave dead batteries in the battery compartment. Using the Calendar Function The Calendar function gives you instant access to any full month calendar from January 1901 through December 2099. The wide display shows two calendars per screen. Initializing a RAM card The initialization procedure described here prepares a RAM card ior data storage.
Selecting between SF Unit and RAM card storage You can switch between SF Unit memory and RAM card storage while the initial display of any mode is shown. The hollowing example shows the procedures of the Telephone Directory, but the same procedure can also be used for the Business Card Library and the Memo Mods.
