GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING 35 PAGE After several attempts the TC-540 will not operate properly. Recorded messages are cut off. The TC-540 is designed to disconnect from the line after a caller stops talking. Calls may be cut off if a four second pause is detected, if the caller does not speak loud enough, or if the message is less than four seconds. The TC-540 does not respond when you enter your remote access code during the outgoing message. Try re-entering the correct code after the beep.

OPERATING INFORMATION GENERAL PAGE 5 DIGITAL OUTGOING AND INCOMING MESSAGES The outgoing and incoming messages are recorded on digital chips, which reduce mechanical components and increase reliability. The TC-540 allows 14 minutes total of outgoing and incoming message recording time. Install a 9 volt battery in the base unit to protect outgoing and incoming messages in case of a power failure. (See battery installation page 32.
