INTRODUCTION StarSense™ is patented technology that allows your telescope to determine its position and align itself with the night sky automatically. StarSense AutoAlign’s internal camera captures an image of the sky, and then analyzes it to identify the stars in the image. Based on this information, StarSense can determine the coordinates of the center of the image. After repeating this process a few times, the system can create an accurate model of the night sky.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS When setting up StarSense for the first time, a wide-angle/low power eyepiece and high power eyepiece are recommended. Start with the wide-angle/low power eyepiece. StarSense AutoAlign works with most computerized Celestron telescopes and several different optical tubes. Refer to the compatibility charts below. OPTICAL TUBE COMPATIBILITY The StarSense camera replaces the finderscope on your telescope. Use one of the two included camera brackets to attach the camera, the large bracket (already installed), or the small bracket. ASSEMBLY ATTACHING THE STARSENSE CAMERA TO YOUR TELESCOPE 1. Remove the finderscope and bracket from your telescope tube . 3. Slide the StarSense camera onto the camera base and secure it with the thumbscrew(s) . The camera slides on the large base front to back, and slides on the small base back to front . Note: Some optical tubes, like the NexStar SE, may have a small plastic rail which secures the Star Pointer . Remove this rail with a Phillips head screwdriver . Remove StarPointer 2.
4. P lug the included auxiliary cable into the back of the StarSense Camera on one end, and your mount’s auxiliary port on the other end. 2. R emove the lens shroud by unthreading it. 3. S lide the bracket off the front of the camera. Be careful not to lose the two orange rings. Note: If your telescope does not have an auxiliary port, the Auxiliary Port Splitter, (item #93919 available from Celestron), is required. First, plug the splitter into the auxiliary port.
USING WITH A FINDER Although StarSense replaces the need for a finderscope, you may still wish to use a finder for quick reference, or to assist with the one-time center calibration of the StarSense camera and telescope. Some optical tubes, like Schmidt-Cassegrains and EdgeHDs have threaded holes to accept finderscope brackets in multiple locations. 1. Remove the NexStar Hand Control from your mount. 2.
QUICK START: ALIGNING STARSENSE Set up your telescope in a relatively unobstructed area that shows most of the sky. If you have obstructions like buildings or trees, StarSense will skip them during the auto alignment procedure. Note: If your sky is heavily obstructed, please see “StarSense Manual Align”. Connect the StarSense Hand Control and camera to your telescope as described in Assembly. Remove the camera’s dust cap. 1.
FIRST TIME SETUP: CALIBRATE CENTER The first time you use StarSense AutoAlign, StarSense needs to know the center of the telescope’s field of view in relation to its camera. This one-time calibration process takes place inside the camera and will not require you to physically adjust the camera or your telescope. After you complete the calibration, you’ll need to perform the StarSense Auto alignment again.
STARSENSE MANUAL ALIGN StarSense Manual alignment allows you to point the telescope in the part of the sky you wish to use for taking alignment images. This is particularly useful in locations where the horizon is obstructed or you have limited visibility. Manual StarSense Alignment is not as accurate as automatic alignment. However, it provides good pointing accuracy throughout the region of the sky that was used for the alignment. To use StarSense Manual alignment: 1.
IMPROVING POINTING ACCURACY WITH STARSENSE Once your alignment is complete, StarSense can further enhance the pointing accuracy of your telescope by adding multiple alignment references. You can add up to 10 alignment reference points for extremely precise GoTo accuracy. 1. P ress the BACK button until you see “StarSense Ready” on the display. 2. Press ALIGN. Add Align Ref will appear, then press ENTER. 3. Using the arrow keys, move the telescope several degrees away from its last alignment point.
Tips for Using Solar System Align Once the telescope is aligned using Solar System Align, you have the option of adding additional alignment objects (either other planets or stars from the Named Star Catalog) to improve pointing accuracy. To add an alignment object: 1. S elect the desired object from the Named Star or Solar System database and slew to it. 2. Press the ALIGN button on the hand control. 3. The display will ask if you want to add an alignment object or replace the existing one. 4.
SYNC Syncing on a star will shift the mount model to the star position. It will improve GoTo pointing in the region of sky close to the star you synced on. Sync can also be used if the mount was bumped or the clutches were loosened for either axis. Sync will restore the position of the StarSense GoTo without using the camera. 1. With a named star selected, press OPTION and ALIGN simultaneously. 2. Coarse center the star in your finder or eyepiece and press ENTER. 3.

O ption (Celestron Logo): Can be used in combination with other keys to access more advanced features and functions. 8. E nter: Selects any of StarSense’s functions, accepts entered parameters, and slews the telescope to displayed objects. 9. B ack: Exits the current menu and displays the previous level of the menu path.
SLEWING TO AN OBJECT Once the desired object is displayed on the hand control screen, you have two options: • Press the OBJECT INFO Key. This will display information about the selected object such as magnitude, constellation, and extended information about the most popular objects. • Use the UP/DOWN keys to scroll through the displayed object info. • Press BACK or OBJECT INFO to return to the object database. • Press ENTER. The telescope will slew to the object displayed on the hand control.
MOTOR SPEED BUTTON HELP BUTTON The telescope can be controlled at nine different speed rates. Pressing the MOTOR SPEED button allows you to instantly change the speed of the motors from high-speed slew rate to precise guiding rate, or anywhere in between. Each rate corresponds to a number on the hand control key pad. The number 9 is the fastest rate (approximately 3.5º per second, depending on power source) and is used for slewing between objects and locating alignment stars.
DATABASE SETUP SkyTour Filters: Allows you to set the minimum magnitude limit (brightness) for objects that will be displayed when the SKY TOUR button is pressed. When using your telescope from a dark sky location, set the minimum magnitude to a higher number. When using your telescope from an urban location or when the Moon is full, set the minimum magnitude to a lower number. The filter limit can be set between 0 (very bright objects) and 25.5 (extremely faint objects). Press ENTER to accept the value.
• R.A. Limits (For equatorial mounts only): Sets the limits that the telescope can slew or track in Right Ascension (R.A.) before stopping. The slew limits are represented in degrees and by default set to 0°, the position of the telescope when the counterweight bar is extended out horizontally. However, the slew limits can be customized depending on your needs.
- Negative is the amount of compensation applied when you release the button, winding the motors back in the other direction to resume tracking. To adjust, press ENTER. While viewing an object in the eyepiece, observe the responsiveness of each of the four direction buttons. Note which directions you see a pause in the star movement after the button has been pressed.
TIME AND LOCATION iew / Modify Time: Allows you to view and V make changes to the date, time, time zone offset, and Daylight Savings Time. View / Modify Location: Allows you to view and make changes to the longitude and latitude of your current location. Please note that changing your current location will result in a loss of alignment. You will need to realign your telescope after making location changes. Press the OPTION button to toggle between city database and longitude/latitude.

INTRODUCTION StarSense™ est une technologie brevetée qui permet à votre télescope de déterminer sa position et de s’aligner automatiquement sur des objets célestes. La caméra intégrée de StarSense AutoAlign capture une image du ciel puis l’analyse pour identifier les étoiles qu’elle contient. En utilisant ces informations, StarSense peut déterminer les coordonnées du centre de l’image. Après avoir répété ce processus plusieurs fois, le système est à même de modéliser le ciel nocturne avec précision.
CONFIGURATION SYSTÈME REQUISE Nous vous recommandons d’utiliser un oculaire angle large/basse puissance lors de la configuration initiale de StarSense. StarSense avec oculaire angle large/basse puissance. StarSense AutoAlign fonctionne avec les télescopes électroniques de Celestron et différent types de tubes optiques. Consultez le tableau de compatibilité ci-dessous.
COMPATIBILITÉ DE TUBE OPTIQUE La caméra StarSense remplace le chercheur de votre télescope. Utilisez l’un des deux support de caméra pour la fixer au tube, le grand support (déjà installé) ou le petit support. ASSEMBLAGE FIXER LA CAMÉRA STARSENSE À VOTRE TÉLESCOPE 1. Retirez le chercheur et son support du tube du télescope . 3. Faites glisser la caméra StarSense dans la base et sécurisez-la avec les vis à main . La caméra se glisse d’arrière en avant dans la grande base, et d’avant en arrière dans la petite base . Note: Certains tubes optiques, comme le NexStar SE, peuvent être équipés d’un petit rail de plastique qui permet de fixer le Star Pointer . Retirez ce rail à l’aide d’un tournevis cruciforme .
4. B ranchez une extrémité du câble auxiliaire inclus à l’arrière de la caméra StarSense et l’autre au port auxiliaire de la monture. 2. Retirez le pare-soleil en le dévissant. 3. Faites glisser le support par le devant de la caméra. Veillez à ne pas égarer les deux anneaux orange. Note: S i votre télescope n’est pas équipé d’un port auxiliaire, vous devrez faire l’achat du Séparateur de port auxiliaire (article N°. 93919 chez Celestron). Branchez le séparateur dans le port Auxiliaire.
UTILISATION AVEC UN CHERCHEUR Bien que StarSense prenne la place d’un chercheur, vous pourriez toujours en utiliser un pour prendre des références rapides, ou pour aider à la calibration du centre initiale de la caméra StarSense et du télescope. Certains tubes optiques, comme les modèles Schmidt-Cassegrains et EdgeHDs comportent des pas de vis à différentes positions pour l’installation de la base de chercheur.
DÉMARRAGE RAPIDE : ALIGNER STARSENSE Installez votre télescope dans un espace dégagé offrant la plus large vue possible du ciel. Si la zone sélectionnée contient des bâtiments ou des arbres, alors StarSense les ignorera pendant la procédure d’alignement automatique. Note : Si le ciel est très couvert, consultez « Alignement StarSense manuel ». Branchez la commande à main StarSense et la caméra au télescope comme décrit dans la section d’assemblage. Retirez le capuchon de la caméra. 1.
CONFIGURATION INITIALE : CALIBRER LE CENTRE Pour pouvoir utiliser la fonction alignement auto StarSense, StarSense doit connaître le centre du champ de vision du télescope relativement à la caméra. Ce processus n’est à effectuer qu’une fois depuis la caméra et ne nécessite pas que vous ajustiez physiquement la caméra ni le télescope. Après la calibration, il est nécessaire d’effectuer le processus d’alignement auto de StarSense à nouveau.
ALIGNEMENT MANUEL STARSENSE L’alignement manuel StarSense vous permet de pointer le télescope vers n’importe quelle partie du ciel pour effectuer des prises d’image d’alignement. Ceci est particulièrement utile lorsque l’horizon est partiellement obstrué et que vous n’avez qu’une visibilité limitée du ciel. L’alignement manuel StarSense n’est pas aussi précis que l’alignement effectué par l’alignement auto.
AMÉLIORER LA PRÉCISION DE POINTAGE AVEC STARSENSE Une fois l’alignement terminé, StarSense peut améliorer encore la précision de pointage de votre télescope en ajoutant de multiples points de référence d’alignement. Vous pouvez y ajouter jusqu’à 10 points d’alignement pour obtenir une grande précision GoTo. 1. A ppuyez sur le bouton RETOUR jusqu’à ce que vous voyiez « StarSense prêt » sur l’écran. 2. Appuyez sur ALIGNER. Ajouter une réf. d’alignement apparaît sur l’écran, puis appuyez sur ENTRÉE. 3.
CONSEILS POUR L’UTILISATION DE L’ALIGNEMENT SYSTÈME SOLAIRE Une fois le télescope aligné à l’aide de alignement Système Solaire, vous avez la possibilité d’ajouter des objets d’alignement supplémentaires (d’autres planètes ou étoiles contenues dans le catalogue des étoiles nommées) pour améliorer la précision de pointage. Pour ajouter un objet d’alignement : 1. S électionnez l’objet désiré depuis la base de données des étoiles nommées ou du Système Solaire et faites-le pivoter. 2.
SYNCHRONISATION La synchronisation sur une étoile déplacera le modèle de la monture sur la position de l’étoile. Cela améliorera le pointage GoTo dans la région du ciel proche de l’étoile sur laquelle vous synchronisez. La synchronisation peut également être utile si la monture a été poussée ou si les pinces ont été déserrées sur l’un des axes. La synchronisation rétablira la position du GoTo de StarSense sans utiliser la caméra. 1.

ORIENTATION VERS UN OBJET Une fois l’objet voulu affiché sur l’écran du bloc de commande, vous avez deux choix : •A ppuyer sur le bouton INFO OBJET. Cela vous donnera de les informations concernant l’objet sélectionné tel que sa magnitude, la constellation à laquelle il appartient et des informations supplémentaire sur les objets les plus populaires. •U tilisez les boutons HAUT/BAS pour faire défiler les informations sur l’objet.
BOUTON VITESSE DU MOTEUR BOUTON AIDE La vitesse de mouvement peut être définie selon 9 vitesses. Le bouton VITESSE DU MOTEUR vous permet de modifier immédiatement la vitesse de mouvement des servomoteurs sur une plage allant de « Haute vitesse » à « Précision ». Chaque taux correspond à un numéro sur le clavier numérique de la commande manuelle.
CONFIGURATION DE LA BASE DE DONNÉES Filtres SkyTour : Vous permet de définir la limite de magnitude minimum (luminosité) des objets affichés lorsque le bouton SKY TOUR est pressé. Lorsque vous utilisez votre télescope en environnement obscur, définissez la valeur de magnitude comme plus élevée. Lorsque vous utilisez votre télescope en environnement urbain ou lorsque la Lune est pleine, définissez une valeur plus faible.
• A.D. Limites (pour monture équatoriales seulement) : Permet de définir les limites du télescope au sein desquelles le télescope peut s’orienter ou suivre en ascension droite (A.D.) avant de s’arrêter. Les limites d’orientation sont représentées en degrés et sont par défaut définies sur 0°, qui est la position du télescope lorsque la barre de contrepoids est étendue horizontalement. Cependant, ces limites peuvent être définies selon vos besoins spécifiques.

Astuce : Appuyer sur RETOUR sur l’écran Réveil vous permettra d’explorer les différentes fonctions de la commande à main sans avoir à sortir le télescope de son mode d’hibernation. Pour réveiller le télescope après avoir appuyé sur RETOUR, sélectionnez Mise en veille prolongée dans le menu Télescope et appuyez sur ENTRÉE. N’utilisez pas les boutons de direction pour orienter le télescope pendant le mode de mise en veille prolongée.

EINLEITUNG StarSense™ ist eine patentierte Technologie zur automatischen Standortbestimmung und Ausrichtung des Teleskops am Nachthimmel. SYSTEMVORAUSSETZUNGEN Wird das StarSense zum ersten Mal aufgebaut, empfehlen wir ein Weitwinkel-Okular mit niedriger Vergrößerung und ein Okular mit hoher Vergrößerung. Beginnen Sie mit dem Weitwinkel-Okular mit niedriger Vergrößerung. Das StarSense AutoAlign ist mit den meisten computerisierten Celestron-Teleskopen und mehreren unterschiedlichen optischen Tuben kompatibel. Siehe die untenstehende Kompatibilitätstabelle.
KOMPATIBILITÄT DES OPTISCHEN TUBUS Die StarSense-Kamera ersetzt das Sucherfernrohr an Ihrem Teleskop. BOTÓN DE VELOCIDAD DEL MOTOR BOTÓN AYUDA El telescopio puede controlarse a nueve velocidades distintas. El botón VELOCIDAD DE MOTOR le permite cambiar inmediatamente la velocidad de los motores de una velocidad de desplazamiento elevada a una velocidad de guiado precisa, o cualquier punto intermedio. Cada velocidad se corresponde con un número en el teclado del mando manual.
CONFIGURACIÓN DE BASE DE DATOS Filtros de SkyTour: Permite establecer el límite de magnitud (brillo) mínimo para los objetos que se mostrarán cuando se pulse el botón SKY TOUR. INTRODUZIONE StarSense™ è una tecnologia brevettata che consente al telescopio di determinare la propria posizione e di allinearsi automaticamente al cielo notturno. La fotocamera interna di StarSense AutoAlign cattura un’immagine del cielo e la analizza per identificare le stelle presenti nell’immagine. REQUISITI DI SISTEMA Quando si configura StarSense per la prima volta, si consiglia l’uso di un oculare a bassa potenza/ampio angolo e un oculare a elevata potenza. Iniziare con l’oculare a bassa potenza/ampio angolo. StarSense AutoAlign funziona con la maggior parte dei telescopi computerizzati Celestron e con diversi tubi ottici. COMPATIBILITÀ DEL TUBO OTTICO La fotocamera StarSense sostituisce il cercatore sul telescopio. UTILIZZO CON UN CERCATORE Nonostante StarSense non renda necessario l’uso di un cercatore, è comunque possibile usare un cercatore per un rapido riferimento oppure per assistere nella calibrazione una tantum della fotocamera StarSense e del telescopio. Alcuni tubi ottici, come Schmidt-Cassegrain e EdgeHD, sono dotati di fori filettati per ospitare le staffe del cercatore in diverse posizioni. 1. Rimuovere il comando manuale NexStar dalla montatura. 2.
AVVIO RAPIDO: ALLINEAMENTO DI STARSENSE Configurare il telescopio in un’area relativamente sgombra, dove è visibile gran parte della sfera celeste. Nel caso siano presenti ostacoli come edifici o alberi, StarSense li salterà durante la procedura di allineamento automatica. Nota: in caso il cielo non sia completamente sgombro, consultare la sezione “Allineamento manuale di StarSense”. Collegare il comando manuale e la fotocamera StarSense al telescopio come descritto nella sezione Montaggio.
Una volta iniziato il processo di allineamento da parte di StarSense, è importante non toccare o spostare il telescopio in alcun modo. Inoltre, durante l’acquisizione delle immagini del cielo, non ostruire, coprire o illuminare la lente della fotocamera. A seguito di un allineamento automatico riuscito, StarSense visualizza il messaggio “Allineamento completato”. 9. Premere INVIO (ENTER) per continuare.
Al termine di questo passaggio, appare il messaggio Nuovo allineamento richiesto (Realignment Required). È possibile iniziare un nuovo allineamento nella posizione corrente del telescopio. Non è necessario ripristinare il telescopio alla posizione iniziale. 9. E ffettuare ora un altro allineamento automatico StarSense. Quando l’allineamento è completo, il telescopio è pronto per visualizzare i corpi celesti e StarSense li localizzerà accuratamente all’interno del campo visivo del telescopio.
È ora possibile utilizzare l’allineamento automatico personalizzato StarSense e il telescopio ruota automaticamente verso le zone del cielo selezionate durante l’allineamento manuale. MIGLIORARE LA PRECISIONE DI PUNTAMENTO CON STARSENSE Una volta completato l’allineamento, StarSense può ulteriormente migliorare la precisione di puntamento del telescopio aggiungendo diverse preferenze di allineamento. È possibile aggiungere fino a 10 punti di riferimento di allineamento per un’elevata precisione per il VaiA.
6. Premere INVIO (ENTER) quando l’oggetto si trova all’interno del campo visivo dell’oculare. Quindi, centrare l’oggetto nell’oculare e premere ALLINEA (ALIGN). Una volta in posizione, StarSense modellerà il cielo sulla base di queste informazioni e visualizzerà il messaggio Allineamento completato.
7. R uotare il telescopio su una zona sgombra del cielo. Ricordarsi di ultimare il movimento con i tasti direzionali SU e DESTRA. Al termine appare un piccolo segno di spunta in alto a destra. 8. Premere ENTER (INVIO). StarSense cattura un’immagine e completa la sincronizzazione. Allineamento rapido: Impostare la posizione iniziale del telescopio come unico punto di riferimento per determinare la posizione degli oggetti del cielo sulla base delle informazioni locali fornite.

O ption (logo Celestron): Può essere utilizzato in combinazione con altri tasti per accedere a caratteristiche e funzioni avanzate. 8. E nter: Consente di selezionare qualsiasi funzione di StarSense, di accettare i parametri immessi e di ruotare il telescopio verso gli oggetti visualizzati. 9.
ROTAZIONE VERSO UN OGGETTO Una volta che l’oggetto desiderato viene visualizzato sullo schermo del comando manuale, sono possibili due azioni: • Premere il tasto INFO OGGETTO (OBJECT INFO). C iò fornirà informazioni in merito all’oggetto selezionato, quali grandezza, costellazione e informazioni estese in merito agli oggetti più popolari. •U tilizzare i tasti freccia SU/GIÙ per scorrere tra le informazioni dell’oggetto visualizzato.
TASTO VELOCITÀ MOTORE TASTO AIUTO Il telescopio può essere controllato a nove diverse velocità. Premere il tasto VELOCITÀ MOTORE (MOTOR SPEED) consente di modificare istantaneamente la velocità dei motori da alta velocità di rotazione a velocità di guida precisa o in qualsiasi punto intermedio. Ciascuna velocità corrisponde a un numero sul tastierino del comando manuale.
IMPOSTAZIONE DEL DATABASE Filtri Sky Tour : Consentono di impostare il limite minimo di grandezza (luminosità) per gli oggetti che saranno visualizzati una volta premuto il tasto SKY TOUR. Durante l’utilizzo del telescopio da una posizione di cielo scuro, impostare la grandezza a un numero più elevato. Durante l’utilizzo del telescopio da una posizione urbana o in situazioni di Luna piena, impostare la grandezza minima a un numero inferiore.

(solo per montature equatoriali): Imposta i limiti entro i quali il telescopio può ruotare o eseguire la tracciatura in Ascensione retta (A.R.) prima di arrestarsi. I limiti di rotazione sono rappresentati in gradi e per impostazione predefinita sono impostati a 0° essendo la posizione del telescopio quando la barra di contrappeso è estesa orizzontalmente.
I valori 7-9 corrispondono alla direzione che si osserva normalmente in un cercatore StarPointer, altro cercatore senza ingrandimento o cercatore ottico per il corretto orientamento. Compensazione contraccolpi: Tutti gli ingranaggi meccanici hanno una certa quantità di contraccolpi o movimenti tra gli ingranaggi stessi. La funzione di Compensazione contraccolpi riavvolge i motori per quando necessario a eliminare il gioco tra gli ingranaggi.
1. S elezionare Ibernazione (Hibernate) dal menu Telescopio (Telescope). 2. Muovere il telescopio nella posizione desiderata e premere INVIO (ENTER). 3. Spegnere il telescopio. Non muovere il telescopio quando è in modalità di ibernazione. Una volta riacceso il telescopio, lo schermo visualizzerà la dicitura Sveglia (Wake Up). Dopo aver premuto INVIO (ENTER), l’utente ha la possibilità di scorrere lungo le informazioni di ora/posizione per confermare l’impostazione corrente.
