5.1. Introduction
This chapter is a guide to loading program files to the RAC and BEAMER
®
via their Monitoring and
Control communication channels. This enables program upgrades in the field without dismantling the
equipment for that purpose.
The program loading is done from a PC when using the CELLETRA SOFTWARE DOWNLOADING
SYSTEM program, which is supplied by CELLETRA.
This chapter describes the loading process to the RAC and the BEAMER
®
using the CELLETRA
SOFTWARE DOWNLOADING SYSTEM.
5.2. Overview
5.2.1. Downloading Software to the RAC
In the software download process a new application program file is loaded to the RAC via the serial
communication channel or Wireless Modem and saved to the FLASH memory.
5.2.1.1. RAC Memory Configuration
The RAC controller includes two types of memories a FLASH memory and a RAM. The FLASH
memory includes the configuration parameters of the RAC (such as ID number, number of arrays,
failure conditions etc.) and the application program, which enables all the features of the RAC and
which is upgradeable.
The RAM is used for logging events into the log file during regular operation of the RAC, and for
receiving the new application program for the RAC during the download process. A third memory is
