Com port - when pressing this tab the program displays the available serial ports. Select the one that is
connected via the RS232 interface to the ICU.
Get file - the program is loading commands to the ICU, written in the format as defined by the PC to
ICU protocol. These commands are stored in directory 'Commands' within the 'smart-terminal2'
directory. The commands are in ASCII format, one byte per line, each byte followed by carriage
return. A command file has *.bcd extension. These files can be edited and modified, according to the
PC to ICU protocol. When pressing the get-file tab, the smart terminal program will search the
'commands' directory and a list of the available commands will appear. The listing contains the
Windows file name, as it appears in the 'Commands' directory. It is thus suggested to name the files
with an appropriate name, making it easier to search for the needed command. A sample collection of
commands is attached to this package.
Save file - a command, entered either manually or as a script from the Commands scripts can be saved
into the Commands scripts directory using this tab.
The program screen also shows two windows (green characters on black background). The upper
window has one line. It contains the data that will be sent to the ICU (Sent Data). Every time the Send
button is pressed the data from this line is sent via the serial port to the ICU. The lower window is the
I/O response window (Received Data). It shows all the RS232 (or RS485) communication between
the PC and the ICU. Note that this window scrolls down (the most recent data is always at the top of
the window).
The displayed format can be changed from Hex to CHAR format. However, the input format should
always be decimal.
The Clear button clears the contents of the Received Data window.
The Exit button closes the program. Note that the program window cannot be minimized.
