Follow these steps when battery is 17.

reduce risk of a spark near battery:
Check polarity of battery posts. a. 
POSITIVE (POS, P, +) battery post 
usually has larger diameter than 
NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) post.
Attach at least a 24 inch long, 6 b. 
gauge (AWG) insulated battery cable 
to NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) battery 
post.
Connect POSITIVE (RED) charger c. 
clip to POSITIVE (POS, P, +) post of 
battery.
Position yourself and free end of d. 
cable as far away from battery as 
possible; then connect NEGATIVE 
(BLACK) charger clip to free end of 
the cable. 
Do not face battery when making e. 
nal connection. 
When disconnecting charger, f. 
always do so in reverse sequence of 
connecting procedure and break rst 
connection while as far away from 
battery as practical.
A marine (boat) battery must be g. 
removed and charged on shore. 
To charge it on board requires 
equipment specially designed for 
marine use.

Battery Charger
Maintain labels and nameplates 1. 
on Battery Charger. These carry 
important information. If unreadable 
or missing, contact Harbor Freight for 
a replacement.
2.  Always wear safety impact

work gloves when using 
the Battery Charger. Using 
personal safety devices 
reduce the risk for injury.
Maintain a safe working environment.  3. 
Keep the work area well lit. Make 
sure there is adequate surrounding 
workspace. Always keep the work 
area free of obstructions, grease, 
oil, trash, and other debris. Do not 
use power equipment areas near 
ammable chemicals, dusts, and 
vapors. Do not use this product in a 
damp or wet location.
Avoid unintentional starting. Make 4. 
sure you are prepared to begin 
work before turning on the Battery 
Charger.
5.  Always unplug the Battery 
Charger from its electrical 
outlet before connecting 
its cables to a battery, or 
performing any inspection, 
maintenance, or cleaning procedures.
This Charger/Starter does NOT 6. 
have an automatic cut off. It 
is equipped with a 2-1/2 hour 
timer. Check battery and time 
manually; do NOT depend solely 
on timer. Leaving Charger/Starter 
unattended can result in property 
damage.
