Formula: Ceramic Briquets are manufactured by intermixing certain inert
materials with Portland cement, alkaline silicate, and water in predetermined
proportions. The inert materials are crystalline silica sand, clay and iron
oxide. In the case of aromatic Briquets, small amounts of either ground
hickory or mesquite wood chips are inter-mixed with Portland cement and
other ingredients in order to produce specific smoke flavors. Portland
cement consist of finely ground Portland cement clinker mixed with a small
amount of calcium sulfate (gypsum) to control set. No specific formula
applies to Portland cement.
