OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: Make sure that you have removed all packing materials from any part of this appliance. Packing materials may have shifted during shipping so removal must be done carefully and completely. Assembly 1. Place the Stoneware Insert into the Electric Base. 2. Lower the Lid onto the Stoneware Insert. Do not lock the lid while cooking. Stoneware Insert Like any stoneware, the cooking pot may crack or break if not properly handled.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS How to use your Slow Cooker Using a slow cooker is simple, but different from conventional cooking. To help you, this manual contains many helpful hints for successful slow cooking. Slow cooker resources are available online or in cookbooks. Keep these materials handy whether preparing your favorite recipes or trying something new.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS LOCKING LID FEATURE Your slow cooker comes with a suction seal Locking Lid. This feature ensures the safe and leak-proof transporting of your food. Do not lock the slow cooker during the cooking process. • L ock the Lid when you have completed cooking and want to transport your Stoneware Insert without worrying about leaking or spilling. • Start with the Sliding Lid Locks in the opened position. • Place the Lid onto the Stoneware Insert.
HELPFUL TIPS • I n all cooking situations where you have put the Stoneware Insert in the refrigerator, allow the Stoneware Insert to become room temperature before continuing to cook. • B rowning foods before slow cooking can add more depth and flavor to the finished dish. If short on time, you can skip this step and add all ingredients to your Stoneware Insert to slow cook. The only exception is ground meats, which should always be browned before slow cooking.
CLEANING • A LWAYS turn your slow cooker off, unplug it from the electrical outlet, and allow it to cool before cleaning. • T he Lid and Stoneware Insert can be washed in the dishwasher or with hot, soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaning compounds or scouring pads. A cloth, sponge, or rubber spatula will usually remove residue. • To remove water spots and other stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner or vinegar. • T he Stoneware Insert and Lid will not withstand sudden temperature changes.
