Depress the switch to activate both cluster indicators and all front and rear directional signals. Depress the switch again to turn the Hazard Warning Flashers off. This is an emergency warning system and it should only be used for emergencies. Use it when your vehicle is disabled and creating a safety hazard for other motorists.
IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY – Preparations For Jacking • Park the vehicle on a firm, level surface. Avoid steep, icy, or slippery areas. • Set the parking brake firmly. For a manual transaxle equipped vehicle, place the transaxle in NEUTRAL. • Turn on the hazard warning flashers. • Turn off the engine. • Put wheel blocks at the front and rear of the tire diagonally opposite the tire being changed. For example, if changing the right front tire, block the left rear wheel.
98 – IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY Jack Engagement Locations Chery Automobile Co., Ltd.
IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY – • Raise the vehicle by turning the jack screw clockwise with the jack handle. Raise the vehicle until the tire just clears the ground surface and there is enough clearance to install the spare tire. WARNING! Minimum tire lift provides maximum stability. • Remove the wheel nuts. • Remove the wheel and tire assembly from the hub. • Install the spare tire. • Install the wheel nuts with the tapered end of the nuts toward the wheel. Lightly tighten the nuts by hand.
100 – IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY • If coolant or steam is boiling out of the radiator or reservoir, stop the engine. Wait until the steam subsides before opening the hood. If there is no coolant boiling over or steam, leave the engine running and make sure the electric cooling fan is operating. If it is not, turn the engine off and let it cool. CAUTION! To help avoid personal injury, keep the hood closed until there is no steam escaping the cooling system.
IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY – CAUTION! When replacing a blown fuse, it is important to use only a fuse having the correct amperage rating. The use of a fuse with a rating other than indicated may result in a dangerous electrical system overload. If a properly rated fuse continues to blow, it indicates a problem in the circuit that must be corrected. The Front Fuse and Relay Box is located in the engine compartment. Spare fuses should be carried in the vehicle in case any should fail.
102 – IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY Fuse Color Pink Yellow Amperage 40 A 60 A Towing A Disabled Vehicle NOTE: Your vehicle is equipped with tow hooks at both the front and rear. CAUTION! Observe the following guidelines when towing the vehicle: • Tow the vehicle slowly and smoothly to avoid damage. • If the vehicle needs to be steered while being towed, the ignition switch must be in the ON position, not in the LOCK or ACC position.
IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY Jump-Starting Procedures Due to A Low Battery WARNING! Observe the following guidelines when jump-starting the battery: • Take care to avoid the radiator cooling fan whenever the hood is raised. It can start anytime the ignition switch is ON. You can be hurt by the fan. • Do not attempt to push or tow your vehicle to get it started. Unburned fuel could enter the catalytic converter and once the engine has started, ignite and damage the converter and vehicle.

112 – PROPER MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE Maintenance Procedures The pages that follow contain the required maintenance services, determined by the engineers who designed your vehicle. Along with the items which require maintenance at periodic intervals, there are items that should operate satisfactorily without regular maintenance. However, if a malfunction with any of these items should occur, it could adversely affect the engine or vehicle performance.
PROPER MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE – Engine Oil Additives The manufacturer strongly recommends against the addition of any additives (other than leak detection dyes) to the engine oil. Engine oil is an engineered product and its performance may be impaired by supplemental additives. Disposing of Used Engine Oil Care should be taken in disposing of used engine oil from your vehicle. Used oil, indiscriminately discarded, can present a problem to the environment.
114 – PROPER MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE • Overfilling fluid is not recommended because it may cause leaking in the system. • Use only brake fluid that has been stored in a tightly closed container to avoid contamination from foreign matter or moisture. • Only use brake fluid that meets Chery specifications. Refer to ⬙Fluids and Capacities⬙ in this chapter for the brake fluid capacity and type. CAUTION! Do not allow petroleum based fluid to contaminate the brake fluid.
PROPER MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE – 115 down any more. After that, install the coolant reservoir cap. • Only use coolant that meets Chery specifications. NOTE: Do not mix coolant types for your vehicle. Power Steering Fluid Check Checking the power steering fluid level at regular service intervals is required. The fluid should be checked if a leak is suspected, abnormal noises are apparent, and/or the system is not functioning as designed. If necessary, add fluid to restore to the proper indicated level.
116 – PROPER MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE Windshield Wiper Blades Wiper Blade Replacement mild car washing soap. Rinse the panels completely with clean water. Avoid using abrasive compounds and power buffing as these may diminish the gloss or thin out the paint finish. CAUTION! Wiper Blades Replacing Wiper Blades Operating the wipers on dry glass for long periods may deteriorate the wiper blades. Always include washer fluid when using the wipers to remove salt or dirt from a dry windshield.
PROPER MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE – • If your vehicle is damaged due to an accident or similar cause, which destroys the paint and protective coating, have your vehicle repaired as soon as possible. Wheel and Wheel Trim Care All wheels and wheel trims, especially aluminum and chrome-plated wheels, should be cleaned regularly with a mild soap and water to prevent corrosion. Do not use oven cleaner.
118 – PROPER MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE CAUTION! • High pressure can damage the radiator fins, the air or water pressure should not exceed 150 kPa. • When cleaning the radiator and condenser, spray the cooling fins in the correct direction to prevent damage. WARNING! The radiator fins are necessary for proper thermal conduction. Do not brush the fins, which may damage the fins and reduce the thermal conduction efficiency.
PROPER MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE Headlight Beam Adjustment The correct headlight adjustment is directly correlated to driving safety. The headlights must be adjusted properly using special instruments. Always follow legal guidelines when adjusting the headlights. • Push the side repeater to one side to release the spring tension and pull outward. • Twist the socket one quarter turn and pull the socket from the lens. • Pull the bulb straight from the socket and replace.
