Cobalt 2006 B 4 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 4 Getting to Know Your Cobalt Driver Information Center (DIC) Your vehicle’s Driver Information Center (DIC) provides vehicle information, vehicle feature personalization and vehicle warning messages. To operate the DIC, the ignition switch must be in the Run position. The DIC is controlled through two buttons located on the instrument panel to the right of the steering wheel. The DIC messages will be shown on your instrument panel cluster display.

Cobalt 2006 B 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 5 5 • Exterior Perimeter Lighting During Remote Keyless Entry Unlock • Security System: Passive or Remote Keyless Entry Arming • Select Language (English, French, Spanish or German) Warnings and Messages If a problem is sensed in one of your vehicle’s systems, a warning or message will appear in the DIC display (see your Owner Manual for a complete list of possible warnings and messages).

Cobalt 2006 B 6 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 6 Getting to Know Your Cobalt Shoulder Belt Height Adjustment (Sedan Only) Heated Seats (if equipped) A B To move the shoulder belt height adjuster down, push the release button (A) down using your thumb or finger and slide the adjuster to the desired position. To move the adjuster up, push up on the D-ring (B) from the bottom and slide the adjuster to the desired position. See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

See Section 3 of your Owner Manual. AUDIO SYSTEMS Audio System Features While most of the features on your radio will look familiar, following are some that may be new. Left Controls (Power): Press this knob to turn the power on or off. (Volume): Turn this knob to adjust the volume.

Cobalt 2006 B 8 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 8 Getting to Know Your Cobalt Setting Preset Stations Up to 30 preset stations (FM1, FM2; AM; or XM1 and XM2, if equipped) can be programmed on the six numbered pushbuttons. To preset a station: 1. Turn on the radio. 2. Press the BAND button to select FM1, FM2, AM, XM1 or XM2. 3. Tune to the desired station. 4. Press the equalization button to select the equalization. 5. Press and hold one of the six numbered pushbuttons until you hear a beep.

Cobalt 2006 B 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 9 9 With RDS, the radio can: • Seek stations broadcasting the type of programming you select • Receive announcements concerning local and national emergencies • Display messages from radio stations • Seek stations with traffic announcements When you tune to an RDS station, the station name and call letters will appear on the display instead of the frequency.

Cobalt 2006 B 10 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 10 Getting to Know Your Cobalt Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) (if equipped) (Lock): Press this button when all doors are closed to immediately lock all the doors. The interior lamps will also turn off. If enabled through the Driver Information Center (DIC), the parking lamps will flash once and/or the horn will chirp to indicate locking has occurred. If the Lock button is pressed while any door is open and the Delayed Lock feature is enabled, the doors will not lock.

Cobalt 2006 B 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 11 11 Automatic Door Locks (if equipped) For your safety, all doors will automatically lock when the shift lever is moved out of Park with an automatic transmission, or when the vehicle speed is greater than 5 mph (8 km/h) with a manual transmission. This feature cannot be disabled; however, you can personalize the unlock features by using the Driver Information Center. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Cobalt 2006 B 12 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 12 Getting to Know Your Cobalt Interior Lamps Overhead Lamps: The overhead lamp switch, located on the dome lamp, can be set to three positions: Off, On or Door Open. In the Door Open position, the dome lamp (or reading lamps, depending on equipment) will come on when any of the doors are opened. When you enter or exit your car through the driver’s door, the interior lamp(s) will stay on for a short time after the doors have been closed.

(On/Off): Press this button to turn the cruise control system on and off. + RES (Resume): Press this button to resume a set speed, or to increase the set speed, if the system is engaged. – SET (Set): Press this button to set a speed, or to decrease the set speed, if the system is engaged.

Cobalt 2006 B 14 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 14 Getting to Know Your Cobalt Preventing Window Fogging To keep the vehicle glass fog-free, turn the airflow control knob to the Defog ( ) mode or the Defrost ( ) mode. Recirculation will not function in these modes, allowing outside air into the vehicle to help reduce moisture. See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Cobalt 2006 B 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 15 15 Child Restraints (LATCH) Your vehicle is equipped with LATCH anchors, and may have top tethers for use with a LATCH-compatible child restraint. If your child restraint is not compatible with the LATCH system, you may still use it by installing the child restraint with the seat belt system. Choose a child restraint that is appropriate for the child’s age and size (weight and height). See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Cobalt 2006 B 16 11/1/05 3:25 PM Page 16 Getting to Know Your Cobalt Passenger Air Bag Status Indicator (if equipped) Your vehicle may be equipped with a Passenger Sensing System located in the front passenger seat for the front air bag. There is also a passenger air bag status indicator located on the instrument panel center stack. Note: It is recommended that children not be placed in the front passenger seat, even with the Passenger Sensing System.

Manual Transaxle When parking your vehicle, the system prevents the ignition key from being removed unless the shift lever is in Reverse with the clutch pedal pressed in. To park your vehicle, press down the clutch pedal. Then move the shift lever into Reverse and apply the parking brake.

Position the jack at the proper lift points under the vehicle before attempting to jack up the vehicle. It’s important to follow all of the guidelines in your Owner Manual to safely and properly change a tire. See Section 5 of your Owner Manual.
