Infotainment System Using Your Stored Preset Destinations These destinations are available for selection while driving. 1. If the radio is already on with a map disc inserted, skip to Step 5. 2. Press the O (power) knob to turn the system on. 3. Insert the DVD map disc. See “Installing the Map DVD” under Maps on page 44 for more information. 8. Select the Start Guidance screen button. You are now ready to start your route. See “Preset Destination” under Destination on page 65 for more information.
Infotainment System Radio AM-FM Radio Notice: Before adding any sound equipment to the vehicle, such as an audio system, CD player, CB radio, mobile telephone, or two-way radio, make sure that it can be added by checking with your dealer. Also, check federal rules covering mobile radio and telephone units. If sound equipment can be added, it is very important to do it properly. Added sound equipment can interfere with the operation of the vehicle’s engine, radio, or other systems, and even damage them.

When viewing a map screen, the name of the station or channel will appear on the display. ¨ SEEK / © SEEK: To seek stations, press the left or right arrow keys to go to the next or previous station and stay there. To scan stations, press and hold either arrow for more than two seconds. The radio will go to a station, play for a few seconds, then go on to the next station.
Infotainment System Setting the Tone Automatic Equalization TREBLE: Touch the plus (+) or minus (−) sign to increase or decrease the treble. If a station is weak or noisy, decrease the treble. If the system has automatic equalization, you can select customized equalization settings designed for Talk. Touch the Talk screen button to hear the change in sound. The system will save the setting for each source. MID (Midrange): Touch the plus (+) or minus (−) sign to increase or decrease the midrange.
Infotainment System The 2 CH and 5.1 CH buttons are available only when a 5.1 CH disc is available and RSA is off. Radio Menu The navigation system may have this feature. 2 CH (Channel): Select this screen button to enhance surround sound. The Surround screen button must be selected to select the 2 CH screen button. 5.1 CH (Channel): Select this screen button, when listening to a DVD, to give a full affect of surround sound listening. The Surround screen button must be selected to select the 5.
Infotainment System Limit Features While Driving Number of Preset Pages The navigation system may have this feature. Touch the / Number of Preset Pages screen button to change the number of preset pages, 1 through 6. Each preset page can contain five preset stations. Touch the desired numbered screen button. Touch the Limit Features While Driving screen button to turn on and off the ability to limit functions while driving.
Infotainment System AudioPilot: If the system has the Bose® sound system it may include Bose AudioPilot® noise compensation technology. To use AudioPilot®: 1. Press the MENU key to enter the menu screen, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Radio is selected or touch the Radio screen button. 2. Press the > Automatic Volume Control screen button to access the AudioPilot menu. 3. Press the ON screen button. To turn it off, touch the OFF screen button.

Use the up and down arrow screen buttons to scroll the frequencies. Touch the desired frequency. XM lists will also contain a category to select and the stations or channels that pertain to the category. For XM, touch the left and right arrow screen buttons to change categories. The station information will appear on the display.
Infotainment System Radio Menu Press the MENU key to enter the menu screen, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Radio is selected or touch the Radio screen button to make changes for radio information displayed or to limit features while driving, number of preset pages, XM categories, and Automatic Volume Control or Bose® AudioPilot®, see AM-FM Radio on page 14 earlier in this section.
Infotainment System Audio Players CD/DVD Player Playing an Audio CD The player can be used for CD and MP3. If your vehicle has RSE, the player can be used for CD, MP3, DVD audio, and as a DVD video player. See “Playing a DVD” later in this section. With the ignition on, insert a CD partway into the slot, label side up. The player will pull it in and the CD should begin playing. While playing a CD, the navigation system is available.

Infotainment System All files contained directly under the root directory will be accessed prior to any root directory folders. However, playlists (Px) will always be accessed before root folders or files.
Infotainment System Preprogrammed Playlists You can access preprogrammed playlists which were created by WinAmp™, MusicMatch™, or Real Jukebox™ software, however, you will not have editing capability. These playlists will be treated as special folders containing compressed audio song files. Playing an MP3 With the ignition on, insert a CD partway into the slot, label side up. The player will pull it in. The system may take some time to read the MP3 disc.
Infotainment System r (Rewind): Touch and hold this button to rewind quickly through a track selection. You will hear sound at a reduced volume. Release this button to stop rewinding. Release this button to stop fast forwarding. The display will show the elapsed time of the track.
Infotainment System The DVD slot is compatible with most audio CDs, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW media along with MP3 and WMA “un-protected” formats. There are three ways to play a DVD: • Once a DVD is inserted, the system will automatically start play of the DVD. • If you are on a map screen, touch the DVD screen button. • Press the AUDIO hard key, then touch the DVD screen button.
Infotainment System of the menu screen buttons. Menu options are available when they are highlighted. Some menu options are only available when the DVD is not playing. Full: Press this screen button to remove all menu options from the display. Press anywhere on the screen to display the menu options. Cursor: Touch this button to access the cursor menu. The arrows and other cursor options allow you to navigate the DVD menu options. The cursor menu options are only available if a DVD has a menu.
Infotainment System Setup: Touch this button to display the DVD Setup screen. This button is only available when the DVD is not playing. The DVD Setup screen allows you to change the brightness, contrast, and mode, change the viewing on the monitor, and to change the initial settings; language, parental level, and aspect. Day: Touch this screen button and the system will make the navigation screen background brighten.
Infotainment System Parental Level: Touch this button to change the rating level to only allow the play of DVDs with a certain rating. The rating selection is 1 through 8, with 1 being a G rating. If the 1 is selected, any DVD with a rating above G will not be able to be viewed without entering a password. When the parental level screen is first entered a keyboard will appear on the display and a four-digit password will need to be created. Type in a password that you will be able to remember.
Infotainment System Press this button again to go to the previous track or chapter. This button may not work when the DVD is playing the copyright information or the previews. CD/DVD Messages • You are driving on a very rough road. When the road becomes smoother, the CD/DVD should play. • The CD/DVD is dirty, scratched, wet, or upside down. If Disc Read Error appears on the display and/or the CD/DVD comes out, it could be for one of the following reasons: • The air is very humid.
Infotainment System Notice: If a label is added to a CD or DVD, or more than one CD or DVD is inserted into the slot at a time, or an attempt is made to play scratched or damaged CDs or DVDs, the player could be damaged. While using the CD or DVD player, use only CDs or DVDs in good condition without any label, load one CD or DVD at a time, and keep the player and the loading slot free of foreign materials, liquids, and debris. Do not add any label to a CD or DVD, it could get caught in the player.
Infotainment System While the USB source is active, use the following to operate USB function: TUNE: Turn the knob to the right or left to go to the next or previous track. k (Play/Pause): Press to start, pause or resume play of the current media source. USB Music Menu: See USB Music Menu following for more information. (Seek Up/FWD): Press to seek to the next track. Once the USB has been connected, the main music menu appears. Press and hold to advance quickly through playback.
Infotainment System 2. Once the disc has been read into the system, touch USB. 3. Touch Files, Folders, or Playlists to show a list of songs stored on the USB device. 4. Touch to play the desired song.
Infotainment System Touch the single scroll arrows on the side of the screen to scroll through the list. Touching the double scroll arrows will scroll the list in 10 percent increments. Eject: Touch when USB is to be removed. A message displays to safely remove it. 37 If the USB is disconnected without touching Eject, the files could become corrupted.

Infotainment System Album: Select this button to view the albums that have been stored on the iPod. Select an album name to view a list of all songs on the album. Select the desired song from the list. Once a song has been selected “Album Mode” appears on the iPod main screen to show that music is being played from a specific album. Genres: Select this button to view the genres that have been stored on the iPod. Select a genre name to view a list of all songs of that genre.
Infotainment System Audio Book Audiobooks can be downloaded from iTunes® or if in .mp3. After inserting the USB or iPod, the following screen displays: 2. Touch Files, Folders, or Playlists to show a list of songs stored on the iPod device. 3. Touch to play the desired song. Eject iPod: Select this button to remove the iPod. If the iPod is disconnected without selecting this button, the files on the iPod could be corrupted. 1. Touch the center button to go to the main list menu.
Infotainment System 41 Auxiliary Devices 2. Touch Audiobooks or Podcasts to show a list of the media stored on the iPod device. 3. Touch to play the desired media. The navigation system has an auxiliary input jack located in the upper right corner of the faceplate. This is not an audio output; do not plug the headphone set into the front auxiliary input jack. You can however, connect an external audio device such as an iPod, laptop computer, MP3 player, CD changer, or cassette tape player, etc.
Infotainment System If your vehicle has rear audio/video input jacks, located in the rear of the center console, they can be used as another source for audio/video listening. Navigation To use a portable audio player, connect a 3.5 mm (1/8 inch) cable to the auxiliary input jack. When a device is connected, the system will detect and automatically begin playing audio from the device over the vehicle’s speakers. This section presents basic information needed to operate the navigation system.

Selecting the audio tab will split the screen between the map screen and the current audio source screen menu. See “Audio” under AM-FM Radio on page 14 and Satellite Radio on page 21 for more information. DEST (Destination): Press this key to access the Destination Entry screen to plan a destination or to change the search area. See Destination on page 65 for more information.

This button may toggle to A-Y. 0-9 (Numbers): Select this screen button to select numbers. the correct search area has not been selected. See Database Coverage Explanations on page 80 for more information or Destination on page 65 to change the search area. U (Space): Select the space screen button to enter a space between characters or the words of a name.
Infotainment System and hold until the NAV screen is active, or select the NAV tab manually. 3. Touch the OK screen button to agree to the Caution screen, if it appears. If the map is in split screen mode, you must push the NAV tab button to get the full map screen. 5. Load the map DVD partway into the slot. The system will pull it in. 6. Once the map DVD is loaded, touch the Close screen button. The screen will close. 4. Touch the Close screen button. The screen will close.
Infotainment System • Do not keep the disc in direct sunlight, high temperatures, or humidity. • After using the disc, place it back into the original case. DVD Map Disc Messages If Disc Read Error appears on the display and/or the disc comes out, it could be for one of the following reasons: • If the map DVD disc was installed into the audio CD/ video DVD slot. See “Installing DVD Map Disc” earlier in this section. • It is very hot. When the temperature returns to normal, the disc should work.
Infotainment System If you have used the scroll feature to scroll the map and your vehicle icon becomes lost, press the NAV (Navigation) key to return to the current vehicle location on the map. Navigation Symbols The following symbols are the most common symbols that will appear on a map screen. You can use the scroll feature on the map to set a destination. See “Pick from Map” under Destination on page 65 for more information.
Infotainment System The north up symbol indicates the map with North Up, known as North Up mode. The distance and time to destination symbol indicates the distance and the estimated time remaining to your final destination. The straight line to distance symbol indicates the straight-line distance to your destination. This symbol will appear before you start driving on the route or if you are on a road where navigation guidance cannot be given.
Infotainment System 49 The system will automatically store the point in the address book. See “Adding Destinations to the Address Book” under Destination on page 65 for more information. The heading up symbol indicates the map with the vehicle travel direction up, known as Heading Up mode. The No GPS symbol will appear when your vehicle is not receiving a Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite signal. The shaded triangle indicates the North direction.
Infotainment System More: Select this screen button to view more POI categories. Go: Press this screen button, next to the desired POI, to make this POI a destination or a waypoint. Select a POI name to receive information about the POI. From this screen you can select: Add to Address Book, Go, Map, or Call (if OnStar® personal calling is activated). Select one of the POI categories to display or to delete POI icons from the map screen.
Infotainment System Map: Press this screen button to display the map showing the location of the POI. Show: Select this screen button to update the map screen and the list once a category has been selected. Show POI: Select ON to display the POI icons on the map screen. Select OFF to remove the POI icons from the map screen. List all Categories: Select this screen button to list all POIs sorted alphabetically.
Infotainment System Dual Mode The Interstate Exit list advises of approaching exits. Press this button to switch between dual screen and full screen which displays the entire route. Auto Reroute When your destination is set and you are off the planned route, the system will automatically plan a new route and begin to reroute. You will be able to see the new route highlighted on the screen.
Infotainment System For example, if you were traveling from Michigan to Florida, change the region currently selected in the search area to Florida. Enter a destination in Florida under the Destination Entry menu. Navigation Menu Sound 53 Nav (Navigation) Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Sound is selected or touch the Sound screen button to make speaker and equalization or DSP (Digital Signal Processing) adjustments.

This path will be stored in the navigation system’s memory, see “Previous Destination” under Destination on page 65 for more information. Off-Road Mode Voice Prompt > To turn the Off-Road Mode on or off, do the following: 1. Press the MENU key. 2. Press the Nav screen button. 3. Press the # Off-Road Mode ON or OFF screen buttons. The active button will be highlighted.

Infotainment System Traffic information is delivered to the vehicle by the XM™ Radio satellites. XM NavTraffic™ makes it possible for the navigation system to provide continuously updated traffic information personalized for a driver’s needs.
Infotainment System Traffic Icon The Traffic Icon appears on the Traffic Tab, next to the word Traffic, when traffic is found in the local area. The Traffic Icon has three different condition displays. These are: Condition • No XM NavTraffic™ subscription. • No Traffic is found in the local area. • The Traffic Feature is turned off. Traffic events are in the area, but none are on route. Traffic events are on route.
Infotainment System Locations and Information of Traffic Conditions To view the traffic condition location and information on the map: Options The system may take some time to sort the information. The list of traffic conditions display in the order of distance from the vehicle, at a minimum of approximately 16 mi (25 km). If traveling on a planned route, the list can be filtered to see traffic conditions along the planned route. Not all traffic conditions may be listed. 1.
Infotainment System • Yellow indicates slightly impaired traffic flow with average speed between 25 and 45 mph. • Green indicates normal traffic flow with average speed above 45 mph. Traffic flow data arrows display on the map when scaled up to eight miles. Traffic Flow Status — This touch screen button is used to enable or disable the green, yellow, red and orange arrows shown beside the roads and used to show the traffic flow or extent of a traffic event. • Black indicates a closed road segment.

Alert for Approaching Traffic Events: When On, if an approaching traffic event is within the alert range, one of two traffic alert pop-up screens display: • With no route planned, while on expressways, Approaching Traffic Event without Avoid screen displays. • With route planned, Traffic Event on Route screen displays.

Display Brightness/Contrast/Mode Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Display is selected or touch the Display screen button. Touch this screen button to change the brightness, contrast, and mode of the display.
Infotainment System Auto (Automatic): Touch this screen button for the system to automatically adjust the screen background depending on exterior lighting conditions. At night, the brightness can be adjusted with the vehicle dimming knob near the headlamp switch. Night: Touch this screen button and the system will make the map background darker. Day: Touch this screen button and the system will make the map background brighter.
Infotainment System Touch the Change Search Area screen button to view the Search Area screen. Touch the numbered screen button to the left of the search area map that corresponds with the numbered region and to view a list of states included in the region selected. The selected area will be highlighted on the map. Touch the down arrow to select CAN (Canada). Touch the back screen button to return to the Destination Entry screen and to store the selected region.

Infotainment System OnStar® Destination Download • Select Add to Address Book, the navigation system copies the downloaded destination to the address book and displays the new address book entry. ® OnStar Destination Download (if equipped) is a service available for OnStar* subscribers that makes operating your navigation system much simpler. It allows subscribers to request and receive navigation assistance on-the-go.
Infotainment System Route Guidance Not Active Previous Destinations If an OnStar destination is downloaded while route guidance is not active, the navigation system displays an OnStar Destination Download Screen and operations will continue as outlined in the Using OnStar Destination Download section: Previous OnStar Destination Downloads are saved under Previous Destinations in the navigation system where they can be accessed or saved to the address book.
Infotainment System Map Destination Screen Functions If the map screen is used to show destination, it will have map screen capabilities such as Go, Mark, Zoom, Scroll, etc. The address is shown at the top of the screen. 73 Getting Started on Your Route Once you have entered a destination there are several functions that can be performed. Press the DEST hard key to access the Route screen. Q / R (Scroll Arrows): Touch the up and down arrow screen buttons to scroll through the list of maneuvers.
Infotainment System Avoid List: Select this screen button to cancel an avoided turn. The list of selected avoided turns will display. Select the turn to cancel the turn from being avoided. q / r (Reverse Scroll): Select this screen button to scroll to the start point or previous waypoint. This button will toggle between slow and fast speed. j (Pause): Select this screen button to pause the route preview, while in reverse or fast forward scroll.
Infotainment System Add Waypoint To add a waypoint: 1. Press the DEST hard key. 2. Select the Add Waypoint screen button. This button will only appear if a route has been calculated. 3. Using the desired method of entering a destination, enter the waypoint. See “Destination” previously for more information. Add Waypoint: Select this screen button from the Route screen. This feature allows you to add up to three waypoints to the current route, between your start point and final destination.
Infotainment System Suspend Guidance Press this screen button, from the Route screen, to put the current route on hold. Resume Guidance Press this screen button, from the Route screen, to resume guidance on the current route. Cancel Guidance Press this screen button, from the Route screen, to cancel the current route.
Infotainment System To store an address book entry as a preset destination: 1. Select the MENU hard key. 2. Select the Nav screen button or press the MENU key until the Nav screen button is selected or touch the Nav screen button. 3. Select the Edit/View screen button. 4. Select the address book entry that you would like to store as the preset destination. Select the Name screen button to add a name, if needed. 5.

Infotainment System • The route may not be changed when using automatic rerouting. • There is no route guidance when turning at an intersection. • Plural names of places may be announced occasionally. • It may take a long time to operate automatic rerouting during high-speed driving. • Automatic rerouting may display a route returning to the set waypoint if you are heading for a destination without passing through a set waypoint.
Infotainment System After receiving the updated disc, replace the old disc in the navigation system. See “Installing the DVD Map Disc” and “Ejecting the DVD Map Disc” under Maps on page 44. Dispose of the old disc to avoid confusion about which disc is the most current. Database Coverage Explanations Coverage area depends upon the map detail available. Some areas have greater map detail than others. The navigation system works only as well as the information provided on the map disc.
Infotainment System • To cancel a command or if the system response does not match your verbal command, press and hold the talk symbol button. The system will reply, “System will cancel the voice recognition”. • If you experience difficulty with the system recognizing a command, try saying it more softly, and wait for a few seconds after the beep, or you may just try saying it again. • Background noise may cause voice commands to be misunderstood, including airflow noise from wind.
Infotainment System Navigation Help Radio Commands Navigation Help: This command instructs the system to assist with navigation commands. Use the following display commands to set the display mode. The following are radio commands you can access by clearly stating the commands exactly as they are written. The commands are only available when you are in one of the following audio modes, AM, FM, or XM™ (if equipped). Display [set] day [mode]: Use this command to set the display to daytime mode.
Infotainment System CD, DVD, Disc, [select] track (one, two, three, etc.): This command instructs the system to select a specific track number. CD, DVD, Disc select next folder: Use this command to select the next folder on the MP3 or audio DVD. CD, DVD, Disc select previous folder: Use this command to select the previous folder on the MP3 or audio DVD. CD help, DVD help, Disc help: This command instructs the system to assist with CD and DVD commands.
