CP Series Safety and Installation Guidelines 1-1
020-100017-03 Rev. 1 (December-2008)
IMPORTANT
Refer to the User Manual, provided with the projector for comprehensive information and additional warnings.
Installation - General
All installation tasks require a Christie-authorized service technician.
For CP2000-M/MR safe lifting of the projector requires two people.
For CP2000,CP2000-X/XB,CP2000-S/SB, safe lifting of projection head onto pedestal requires at least two people. Protect fingers - lift at rear and
front edges only.
For CP2000-ZX, safe lifting of projection head onto optional rack mount or table top requires at least four people. Protect fingers and lift from side
edges only.
For CP2000-ZX, use of rear safety strap is MANDATORY to prevent tipping. NOTE: When using a rack stand the foot lock brackets are used to
prevent tipping - the safety strap is not needed.
Safety shoes required.
Watch for sharp edges on internal parts.
Check with local fire regulations for connection of fire alarm interlock.
Product cooling requires a heat extractor vented to the outside, as specified in the CP2000/CP2000-ZX User Manual. **Optional feature for
CP2000-M/MR models.
Coolant: Do not ingest liquid coolant - contains ethylene glycol. Handle with care and flush immediately if liquid comes into contact with skin or
eyes. Inspect all coolant lines and connections before use.
Opening or removing a projector cover requires a Christie-authorized service technician.
Installation - Electrical
Common to all CP models
CRITICAL SAFETY: Never defeat the earth ground for any reason. Failure to comply poses an electric shock hazard potentially causing
bodily HARM or DEATH
For normal operation, do not disable alarm triggers.
Position all cables away from hot surfaces and ensure they cannot be pulled or tripped over.
SHOCK HAZARD: Shut-off ALL AC wall breakers before opening any enclosure.
Specific to CP2000, CP2000-ZX, CP2000-S/SB
Do not attempt operation if the AC supply and pedestal are not within the specified voltage range.
Specific to CP2000, CP2000-X/XB, CP2000-S/SB
CRITICAL SAFETY: When connecting to AC supply, secure supplied earth ground FIRST to reduce potentially LETHAL shock hazard
from high leakage. Refer to the CP2000 User Manual for full instructions.
Certified electrician required for all connections at TB1. Follow the Terminal Block 1 (TB1) Connections
diagram located on the inside of the
pedestal. Ensure the instructions are followed in accordance with the voltage available at the site.
When routing and connecting internal cabling, keep factory-trimmed cable ties intact, as these ties maintain permanent lead dress. Cut and remove
only untrimmed cable ties, which secure certain loose cables during transit.
If the breakers and "Main AC" light are both ON, but other components do not power up, this indicates a potentially DANGEROUS wiring
problem within the pedestal. IMMEDIATELY turn the projector OFF and fully disconnect from ALL AC.
Specific to CP2000-ZX
CRITICAL SAFETY: Protection from overcurrents, short circuits and earth faults must be part of the building installation. Disconnect device
(double pole switch or circuit breaker with minimum 3mm contact gap) must be readily accessible within the projection room.
A 30-32A double pole, UL listed wall circuit breaker is required. It must be part of the building installation and easily accessible. The distance
between the wall circuit breaker and the projector must not exceed 20 metres using 10AWG cables OR 30 metres using 8AWG cables.
For North American installations, use at least 10AWG copper wires for the connection of the main AC supply to the projector's ground lug.
Copper or aluminum are acceptable as conductor wiring material to terminal block.
Installation - Lamp and Lamp Leads
Lamp installation or replacement requires a Christie trained service technician.
Install only a Christie lamp specified in the User Manual for your particular projector model.
EXPLOSION HAZARD: Handle lamp shipping carton with extreme caution - the lamp is hazardous even when packaged. Dispose of a boxed
lamp according to local safety regulations.
