2.1.6.1 Enhanced ESD Protection for SIM Interface
To optimize ESD protection for the SIM interface it is possible to add ESD diodes (e.g.,
NUP4114) to the SIM interface lines as shown in the example given in Figure 15.
The example was designed to meet ESD protection according ETSI EN 301 489-1/7: Contact
discharge: ± 4kV, air discharge: ± 8kV.

The capacitors shown in Figure 14 must be placed close to the SIM Connector.
