The configuration of the scanner can be done by reading the setup labels contained in
this manual or via the ScanMaster software.
This section describes the procedure of configuring the scanner by reading the setup
barcodes and provides some examples for demonstration.
Note: If Bluetooth SPP is selected for output interface, the host can directly send serial
commands to configure the scanner. For
example, run HyperTerminal.exe and type the 6-digit command located under
each setup label. Refer to
Appendix II Host Serial Commands.
Steps Action User Feedback if Successful
1 Power on the scanner… The scanner will respond with a long beep
(high tone) and its LED indicator will
become solid red and go off quickly.
Note: Upon powering up, the 1660 scanner will try to establish a connection with a
Bluetooth device dongle. Refer to Chapter 3 – Setting up Bluetooth Connections
for details.
2 Enter the Configuration Mode…
The scanner will respond with six beeps
(high-low tone repeats three times), and
its LED indicator will be flashing red.
3 Read a Setup label…
For example,
The scanner will respond with two beeps
(low-high tone) if reading a normal label.
4 Exit the Configuration Mode…

Same as for Enter the Configuration Mode.
5 The scanner will automatically restart itself… Same as for Power on the scanner.
