Chapter 2 Installing the Access Point
Powering the Access Point
Step 4 Ensure that a 6-AWG ground wire is attached to the access point (see Figure 2-39) and connected to the
streetlight pole (for instructions see Grounding the Access Point, page 2-48).

Note Deployment of the AP as shown in the streetlight deployment in Figure 2-39 requires an
alternate AP mounting kit. See Mounting the Access Point section for more information.
Step 5 Disconnect the outdoor light control from its fixture.
Step 6 Turn off power to the fixture at the designated circuits.
Caution When installing the streetlight power tap adapter to the access point AC power connector, always
connect the access point end of the cable FIRST. When removing the streetlight power tap adapter,
always disconnect the access point end of the cable LAST.
