Working with Lasers
Warning
Class I (CDRH) and Class 1M (IEC) laser products.
Statement 1055
Warning
Invisible laser radiation may be emitted from the end of the unterminated fiber cable or connector. Do
not view directly with optical instruments. Viewing the laser output with certain optical instruments
(for example, eye loupes, magnifiers, and microscopes) within a distance of 100 mm may pose an eye
hazard.
Statement 1056
Warning
Use of controls, adjustments, or performing procedures other than those specified may result in
hazardous radiation exposure.
Statement 1057
The following laser safety standards classify the Cisco SFS 7000D, SFS 7000P, SFS 7008P, SFS 7012,
SFS 7024, SFS 3012R, and SFS 3504:
• Class 1M LASER PRODUCT (IEC 60825-1 2001-01)
• Class 1 LASER PRODUCT (complies with 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11 except for deviations
pursuant to Laser Notice 50, dated June 24, 2007)
The maximum output from the fiber optic connector on the optical media converter modules is less than
7.8 mW when measured through a 7 mm aperture located at a distance of 100 nm, and the wavelength is
850 nm.
The maximum output from all other fiber optic ports is within Class 1 limits of IEC 60825-1 and 21 CFR
1040.10.
